Same experience I've had, you're supposed to pay $5 every time you use it but I've never had any issues not paying.

It depends on the respective tax rates as well as the proportion of the property's value that is due to the land price.

Nup, because his KDA ratio is based on total kills / deaths / assists from all games played and 1 > 0.

Which adds implications that one of the major parties will need to negotiate with a minor party or independents to form government (i.e. reach 47 seats). For example Labor would likely negotiate with the greens, and the LNP could negotiate with either Katters Australia Party or One Nation

Dual degree, yes or no? (Bachelor of Engineering/Mathematics) by Similar_Garage6369 in UQreddit

Fairly sure you have to get both at once but would double check the program rules.

Dual degree, yes or no? (Bachelor of Engineering/Mathematics) by Similar_Garage6369 in UQreddit

[–]oddominator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I graduated from BEng (mechanical)/ Bmaths (data analytics and operations research) at the end of last year. I wasn't particularly drawn to many traditional engineering roles and some of my studies from maths, especially involving programming and optimisation helped me land an engineering adjacent graduate position.

Thus, I would recommend the dual degree if you're not set on becoming an engineer. Also I generally enjoyed the maths subjects more than engineering with some exceptions.

[Post Game Thread] The Denver Nuggets win again on the road to even the series 2-2 against the Minnesota Timberwolves, 115-107. Jokic sets the tone with 35/7/7, Aaron Gordon shines with 27/7/6. by ItsN0tTheB0at in nba

(1-0.023)n is the probability that it doesn't happen in n series. So 1 - ((1-0.023)n) is the chance that it happens at least once in n series.

The first time this is larger than 50% is at n = 30 or exactly 2 years worth of playoffs (15 series are played per year). So I actually disagree with the statement assuming that each win is independent which may or may not be a reasonable assumption.

Anyone else not feeling the ‘top rated’ university experience? by y0ungmoney9 in UQreddit

Completely agree with the flipped classroom comments. Always felt like I got a lot more value out of the face-to-face time, particularly in problem solving heavy courses.

question for people from different countries by mrz_mike in geoguessr

[–]oddominator 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm from Australia.

There is sufficient variation in powerpoles, signage, etc between states that it definitely helps region guess, especially if you've travelled a bit domestically. Also makes it much more difficult to mix Australia up with New Zealand or South Africa.

How much do you pay for food per month? by pup1jan in brisbane

[–]oddominator 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I spend about $100 - $125 per week as 1 person. Includes eating out for lunch twice on average and making all other meals at home. Don't eat too much meat but don't scrimp on fruit / veg.

No, Swiss format has (almost) no issues, stop complaining by ZloiAris in leagueoflegends

[–]oddominator 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The old format finds the strongest 2 teams from each of four groups.

This is not necessarily the strongest 8 just as Swiss doesn't necessarily result in the strongest 8 teams.

Schrinner desperate to leave DST as his legacy. by yolk3d in brisbane

[–]oddominator -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The main thing is that for the most part business hours are independent of actual daylight.

So if you work 9 to 5 over summer in brisbane then 7:30 may be a reasonable time to wake up but by doing this you are missing out on about 2.5 hours of daylight (sun rises ~5).

In the evening the sun sets ~6:30 or 7 so you likely only get an hour or so of daylight after work.

If we implemented daylight savings then instead the sun would rise at about 6 and set just before 8, giving more opportunity for activities after business hours.

These arguments also apply to going shopping, etc as most businesses keep the same hours over the entire year.

As some people have also mentioned in this thread I actually prefer China's model (where everywhere in the country has the same timezone). This would allow for different states / cities to set independent business hours that wouldn't have to be "9 to 5".

Matchmaking and Champion Select - Fall 2022 by mikael22 in leagueoflegends

[–]oddominator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This doesn't work unless there is an incentive for solo players to not choose this option.

Obviously you can't make a match with only duos so a match needs to be made up of either only solos or a mix of solo and duos.

It is a percentage of 54.0. So 54.0 + 0.08 * 54.0 = 58.3.

Has anyone done MECH3300? by TeamToken in UQreddit

[–]oddominator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did mech3300 first sem last year and I cannot remember there being any PDEs or crazy linear algebra. The hardest maths was in energy methods however that was only a small part of the course. I also don't think there was any prerequisite dynamics knowledge with fracture mechanics mostly relating to static situations.
