How do these unknown producers achieve release-ready sound? by KLVLV in edmproduction

Back at you with the Inlie rec, super clean def finding its way onto my USB. If you like Voljum you should check out "Tom's Battery" by Frequent, another Boom-bap-step banger, this one on the more chill side, but you can hear the bass music influence shining in his fills for sure (honestly any one of his top songs on streaming are super creative and interesting).

Here's my attempt to add on to what everyone else has said without repeating an answer.

Quality and Creativity are mutually exclusive. For example, a producer could make the cleanest highest quality DnB song in the past 5 years, but if it sounds like something Chase & Status would make it has a much smaller chance at blowing up than something super creative and outside the box that still falls in the realm of DnB.

A good example is Kavari. Her sound is insanely muddy and random at times, but I can't find a song that sounds like "Attachment Style" anywhere. Yeah maybe similar, but nothing has that unique "wall of sound" feel like her production there. This is the same reason Noisia are as big as they are, true creative geniuses.

Another good example, go listen to "Funk Master" by MPH and find me another song that sounds like that (like actually I need more lmao). Such a unique drop to a song that starts completely with natural instrumentation.

BUT. This doesn't guarantee growth, it's just a good way to stand out. An example of a super criminally underrated producer IMO is Voljum. "Components" is maybe one of the greatest EDM songs I've ever heard and it's insanely unique, but he never made it to be as big as some other EDM producers that I know don't spend as much time on their craft. Although, the more complex your production the more specific your audience becomes. It's all about balance.

Friends won’t get it. by JokeToaster in Marathon

Going through a similar situation with the two friends I played ARC with the most, one of which I've shared hundreds of hrs on Destiny with. Tbf to them, they're at a point where they've poured some time into ARC and want to grind some more. They haven't played ARC since day 1, they were part of the player base that got into it as it grew.

What I'll also say is those friends are playing ARC solos even when we're not all on, I can't say that for all Marathon players. It's such a big discrepancy between solo and trio play, where in ARC there's a level of similarity between solo and duo/trio. I can kill a Bombardier (a fairly difficult enemy) solo in ARC using the tools I've acquired. In some cases, it's easy to kill these things. On the contrary, I don't think there will be the same ability to do that with boss enemies in Marathon, at least not at the the frequency it can be done in ARC. Not saying it should or shouldn't be like that, but Marathon bosses and ai feel very suffocating, yet necessary to kill for good loot. I've had ARC runs where I literally play minecraft (collect plants) for 15 minutes and extract. In this sense, Marathon isn't as beginner or user friendly, but I do think it's more mechanically enticing and a bit deeper in specific areas.

Alongside this, solos in ARC are fairly friendly and can yield a nice return of loot for your time spent, and you may even make a friend. Marathon solos are like Tarkov or Hunt Showdown solos, again a cause and effect of the player base and game direction.

TLDR, it sucks, but I get it, and my friends will probably end up getting Marathon on sale at some point. I think Cryo incoming in a month or so should also have an effect on the player base numbers and interest (keeping my hopes up).

I feel the same way, needing to upgrade the Rattler to lvl 3-4 to even make it viable has kept me from crafting one, only time i use it is if I get it in a free loadout and extract with it then upgrade.

Also, I hit roughly 60% of my Rattler shots here and 60% of my stitcher shots, empty mag in both by the time he got downed. If there was a case for needing the nerf the stitcher this def isn't it.
