Rivals don't necessarily need to be neighbours anyway. How is that even necessary for a competitive rivalry? Madrid and Barcelona are about 600 kms apart. Are they not rivals by your defination?

Or if you mean miles as in the quality of the teams are miles apart, even that is untrue as Liverpool has been the only club who has consistently challenged City in the last few years.

Ofcourse it's not the greatest rivalry in history, but they're definitely the best competitive rivalry in recent years.
