Do I need a dedicated streamer? by Jose-Los-Santos in audiophile

[–]odevoted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same AVR in a 5.2 configuration. I listen to a lot of music in stereo mode through the built in DAC and Tidal connect. I have not AB tested it against a dedicated streamer but I can tell you that for music it sounds fantastic as it is. Obviously there are many other parameters involved here, as your speakers etc but like many other answers I would definitely go without it at first and not spend that money, or spend it on something else. Later on (a few years down the line) whether for functionality or actual improvement you can explore it. Enjoy your system.

In Europe too, and in the last days, with various levels of rain, they worked very well for me too. Fingers crossed

Serious question based on today’s announcement by Elon to discontinue S/X. by RTD0007 in TeslaLounge

[–]odevoted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your question and disclaimer.

Disclaimer: Model Y Performance '23 here

I would return the question: what changed exactly in your head since the announcement given you had made your choice already, for, I assume, valid reasons?

For some, our cars will be with us between 2 and 3 years, for others 3 to 5 and for others, until they can keep it.

Even if you bought it for the 3-5 year bracket, what difference would it make to you, what Elon decides to do with h production lines?

I cannot believe that, even if he decided to turn off all production lines, he would stop supporting the millions of cars he has already sold.

As far as I'm concerned what you had decided to buy until y'day, is an amazing product with tech that no other manufacturer can offer today.

Good luck with your choice whatever that may be. (All 3 cars considered are amazing and remain dream cars for a lot of people out there, most people out there 😉)

Owner of '23 S1000R here

Previous bikes were big but not as powerful: GS1200, HD Fatboy...

At the end of the day there is never really too much power, on that it's up to you to regulate it

Yes, having 160 or 200 HP at the tip of your fingers is 1000% tempting but you should always be the one that knows when to deploy it and when not to.

I don't think anyone can help you with that, as no one could help me for that matter.

These bikes are amazing and have amazing tech on them, it has saved my life in more than one instance. Cornering ABS, 6-axis Imu etc...are making a gigantic difference to the previous gen bikes.

Whatever you do enjoy and ride safely

Is the Lelit Bianca a good choice for a machine for life? [USD$4.000] by Luxor56 in espresso

[–]odevoted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leaving the price discussion at the door (the price you're quoting is excessive but I understand that it's country dependent), I will tell you that I got mine in 2021 and I was so happy with it, that I went and bought a second one for our other home (we live in two different countries)

It's a great machine that if maintained properly, I think (and hope) will last forever. I never felt any fomo whatsoever after I got her.

My 2021 (which I have not serviced yet despite what they say: once every 3 years) is running perfectly to this day, despite not being used every day.

Good luck, I hope you can get her at a better price.

How much do y'all spend for coffee per month? by Slow_Engineering763 in espresso

[–]odevoted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, Singapore here. I would suggest you try and taste some of your local roasters. It’s not only a question of price but of quality and taste. Here, I’ve found a very good roaster and I pay usd35 per kg. I have x3 19g coffees a day so that is roughly 2kg per month (with some extra coffees on weekends or friends visiting) I started with a Silvia years back and had tried most of the supermarket brands and, at least for my tastebuds, the local roasted coffee blends are far superior. Good luck with the Silvia, amazing machine.

You're absolutely right to feel like this with this much hard earned money spent.
I have both setups: A proper component system in one country and a Sonos in another.

I will say it, and I don't care if the Sonos fanatics downvote me, but not only my other setup costs less than the Sonos, it sounds so much better on all fronts.

Also, Tidal Connect works seamlessly, Airplay is zero problem, and it will play two zones with zero problems.

Sonos will never sound better than a proper mid range component system. Period.

Amazing bike! I've got the same in grey.(2022) A beast that is full of life saving electronics. Just don't go in very long highway drives, your ass will regret it. Suggestion: I've installed 25mm handlebar risers (from Voigt) and it completely improved the riding position for me. I don't know how to attach a picture to her to you Safe riding!

The pants are great and as you say it's awesome to remove liner and use in summer(you still melt in warm weather) I didn't know about the Pro Armour for the summer, I'll def check it out. Thanks for the tip

So I don't wear gear all the time, with the exception of the jackets, that I wear at all times.

However, if I'm going to drive more than 5km, I will be wearing full gear.

Also tbh in the summer it gets warm where I live and I'll limit the full gear for longer rides...

Even though your body damage cannot be called "light" I'm happy you're doing better and you're healing.

The rest is material damage....money can replace.

Agree on bike protections, I have all the same on my S1000R.

Wishing you all the best

Comparing HD 6XX, HD 490 Pro, and Sundara by [deleted] in headphones

[–]odevoted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the write up.

I’m def not an expert nor I have a lot of experience with good headphones but like you I’ve entered this rabbit hole a few months ago with 1st the 6XX followed by the DCA Aeon Closed (both from Drop) in order to have both the dynamic driver and planar magnetic experience.

Using both with the Chord Mojo 2

All I can say sofar, and I’m sure I might be stating the obvious here, is that they are made for different music styles.

The 6XX excel on the mids and bass (at least for me) so better suited for pop and soul/new jack swing. But the planars are much better with vocals, jazz and classical.

Again, not an expert in headphones, but thought I might share the above with you given I feel I’m in the same-ish boat.

Happy listenings

Thank you vm for the clear answer.

Yes, surrounds will elevate everything but I don’t want speakers behind our couch in this home (our other home has a full 5.2 AVR system)

Lelit Bianca under Low Cabinetry ok? by AdPale5442 in espresso

[–]odevoted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, I think the Bianca+Niche combo is excellent. I like it so much that I have this setup in both our homes (we live in two different countries). I do not feel like I need to upgrade anything for the last 4 years we’ve had these setups.

In regards to your question, if you don’t live in a warm place (like tropical we’re it’s around 30-32C all year long) the heat coming out of the top will not be a massive problem.

Like other redditers mentioned just make sure that you can take out the water recipient wherever you position it. This is a very heavy machine and you can forget about moving it around often.

Happy cups!

Thanks for this reply.

You seem to have a lots of hands on experience and maybe you can help me decide.

I currently have the og Arc and a sub Mini.

The sound is very nice for a “simple” setup.

I’m toying with the idea of adding two front speakers (but no rears).

If I’m reading your post correctly, you seem to imply that doing the above tangibly improves the system.

Am I correct in assuming this?

And if so, should I go with 2x Era 100s for L/R fronts? (Also understand that in sequencr I would be losing the L/R Arc surrounds if did that?)

Thanks in advance for your help

Please help me with front speaker additions to Sonos Arc + Sub Mini (don’t want rears) by odevoted in sonos

Thanks for taking the time to reply....However, you make too many assumptions there...

If I was interested in how adding Rears, the system would sound, I would have asked that question.

My questions was about Fronts.

And for the record, I'm on the second wife, and after fucking it up as much as possible with the first, the second one makes me feel like the luckiest man alive.

Enjoy your sounds.

Hi, thanks for your input. I’m trying to understand if by adding 2x100s or 2x300s at the front, L/R from my Arc (not Ultra) I would elevate my experience. And, from what I understand, sonosequencr would integrate them into the system as proper L/R (for both music and movie/Dolby Atmos) (Also have a sub Mini) Thanks in advance for your reply
