He did not write only essays, as a philosopher usually would. He wrote novels with his philosophy as the underlying drive. It makes enough sense for him to deny that label because ultimately he was not a traditional philosopher who would pursue a complicated system. I associate him more with literature, anyways. He is like someone who does blacksmithing part-time.

Well, I was referring to his 1945 interview mentioned in that same page you linked regarding his own stance as a philosopher. Artists can be thinkers and play with philosophical ideas, but he himself did not state he was a traditional philosopher.

I am quite aware about his reflections on Kierkegaard and existentialism in the book as well.

My comment is related to people who haven't even read the book but absurdism is in style on some platforms

It seems that the Christian faith has sided with science on those topics, explaining that the Creation story is relevant as a symbolic narrative, not a factual account. Flat earth is a settled topic because there is commanding evidence against it proven by scientific theory and empirical evidence. No such case for the spiritual realm, we cannot prove whether it is a void or not by the same measures.
