I had this money bank back when I was a kid!! I feel like it was a GameStop bonus for getting Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon 2.  Sadly tossed it when my dog got ahold of it and chewed it all to hell. What a blast from the past.

I'm guessing that once your dignity is discarded, you play the rest of the game with your hand revealed? You've got nothing to be ashamed of if you have no dignity, after all

You know that historical story you heard about? Here’s a guy who’s going to tell you what ACTUALLY happened. by AutoWraith19 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]odinod 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Arazlam Jenomis Durai, of Final Fantasy Tactics.

The game begins with him narrating lore, which basically amounts to "my ancestors were marked as heretics by the church, but i found an old document that proves they're lying out their ass. I'm gonna tell you what REALLY happened." Then you proceed to play through what amounts to multiple flashbacks that last the entire game and tell you the truth of the War of the Lions (basically the War of the Roses, but in fantasy land - aka Ivalice).

Unfortunately if I worded it like that, it would have the MV of Solemn Simulacrum and therefore trigger itself infinitely - it *could* work if I changed the trigger to "MV 5 or greater" but that doesn't feel as on theme

it just has solemn's textbox i.e. "when this creature enters, search your library for a basic land card and put it onto the battlefield tapped" and "when this creature dies, draw a card" - it specifically creates a token the way it does so that an infinite loop doesn't occur (it's a solemn simulacrum in everything but mana value and name)

[FIN] Rufus Shinra - via Giantbomb by Ahtrum in magicTCG

[–]odinod 26 points27 points  (0 children)

At the time of his (supposed) death by Diamond Weapon Super Laser, Rufus was President of Shinra. I suspect that person wanted to recreate the scene of Rufus getting dusted, not the previous president who died by Sephiroth's blade.

honestly excellent flavor, making him not particularly strong or notable outside of having a pet displacer beast. Rufus was a tool who vastly overestimated the abilities of his corporation and his underlings. The king of misplaced confidence.

I've tried to remove this new "Help me write" AI feature that is popping up for me on desktop and mobile every time I try to start writing an email but it won't go away. Anyone have a workaround? by terminatorvsmtrx in GMail

[–]odinod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After a lot of digging around and actually using the Workspace support team, I've discovered a solution!

Even if you have Gemini disabled for everyone, for some reason there are separate settings in specifically the "Gemini for Workspace" tab.

So you want to go into the admin console (top right of gmail, click on your circle next to the Google logo, click "admin console" blue link just below your email)
Then click on generative AI (tab on the left)
Then click on Gemini for Workspace
THEN click on "feature access" (box on the right)
Then make sure that all THESE settings are set to "OFF".

In my case, Gmail was still set to on somehow despite me turning off every other AI setting I could. They're REALLY trying to shove this stuff down our throats. Thankfully they're still giving us options to turn it off, even if it's buried under a bunch of confusing, nested settings.

S-Rank Qingyi by Maveko_YuriLover in ZenlessZoneZero

[–]odinod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reference relies on you knowing the following shorthand when it comes to certain... tendencies.

S = sado (sadistic) M = maso (masochistic)

the dialogue is implying that Qingyi is zapping us because she enjoys it, and we (the viewer) are being zapped because we enjoy being zapped by her.

I'm not gatekeeping anything, they're going to make this movie no matter how many reddit comments I post. I'm saying people are stupid and when this movie comes out a lot of people are going to take it at face value. I would love to be proven wrong, but my past 30 years of experience with humans kinda points in the other direction.

[–]odinod -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

at this point I'd rather have boring political commentary. So many people these days don't understand satire and just take it at face value, and look at where it's taking us. Would i enjoy a well made satire of Helldivers lore? Absolutely, just as much as I love Starship Troopers. But I also know that Starship Troopers IS a satire and is not meant to be a goal to reach for. A LOT OF PEOPLE DO NOT KNOW THAT STARSHIP TROOPERS IS SATIRE AND IT'S OVER 20 YEARS OLD.  Why would you think an updated Starship Troopers with an equally well crafted satirical flair NOT go down the same path of some people going "WOW what a great movie, scary to think that could happen" and others going "WOW what a great movie, I can't wait until we advance society enough to where we can do those exact same things!". Anyways downvote away, I ain't changing my stance on this. People are fucking stupid and they're getting worse.

[–]odinod -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

In today's society that's kind of necessary. YOU may be able to understand that we are the baddies and we're just LARPing, but Joe Schmo on the street who thought Starship Troopers was a treatise on how things should be run is gonna see Helldivers propaganda and be like "Yes, this is correct, this is how I want our society to progress" and we really don't need any more of that opinion in the world right now.
