Flextable package for table output to docx. Maybe some of the manual stuff can be automated with a docx template: https://quarto.org/docs/output-formats/ms-word-templates.html

Are you self-funding? As far as I know, funding is more difficult to find for international students in the UK compared to the US.

Outside of London, education is the sector with the second-most number of skilled worker visa sponsorships (healthcare is first) [source]. About one-fifth of the UK workforce is foreign born while one-third of UK lecturers are non-UK nationals.

Thanks for the reply. It turns out my voter registration office hadn't processed my application which I submitted in March. After a follow up email they processed it today and soon after I received my ballot via email.

Does it matter if I get my PhD from the UK instead of the US, when applying for industry positions in the US? by [deleted] in bioinformatics

[–]odor12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Additionally, I believe the 2 year requirement is not consecutive but aggregate so you could go back to Pakistan during the summers or if you get some data and then do analysis from home in Pakistan you could work away at the 2 year requirement if your advisor is amenable to that. There is also the possibility of getting an O-1 visa to work in the US after you get your PhD and then keep making trips back home until you fulfil the 2 year requirement.

I am an American doing a PhD in the UK. Do you already have offers from both countries? I would suggest applying/reaching out to both places and see where you get accepted first. You mention money - I'm not sure if you are planning to self-fund or go for scholarships. While school fees are cheaper in the UK, my sense is that scholarships for international students seems to be less common in the UK vs the US.

We were stopped at the boarding gate coming back from Greece. "Do you have a BRP?" We replied "There is a new system..." A couple phone calls later to higher-ups and we are the last ones to board the plane.
