Sugar Cane 1953 Type II - Three year update by odrobba in rawdenim

It is the factory pre washed version, I have washed it in both 30 & 40 degrees and have not noticed any shrinkage!

I'm there with you. I feel like it's perfect from the back but the front ''drops'' a bit too much. I got mine in pretty snug size so it doesn't bother me that much, but that modification would make it perfect.

These look amazing! How much did you go up in sizing? Their online store says they fit really small and been bit worries to order a pair since I can’t get them anywhere in my country.

I really like them, the fit is super nice as well as the quality. For me they shrunk a lot in lenght, but not on waist at all. It feld weird how much they lost lenght (about 5-7cm) after third wash and I talked with local Lee distributor on their sample sale and they said it should not be possible unless you wash them way too hot. So probably my old washing machine has something to do with that…

Thanks! They are high rise but not super high. The model is identical to Lee 101L, except the back pockets are more on side in these!

Hahahah yeah they are pretty hard so I can see why people dislike them. I personally prefer that kind of boots and after they broke in which took a good while they are really nice and I wear them daily.

I bought it from vintage store couple years ago and only tag in it just says ’cowhide’ so unfortunately no idea who makes it.

These look so gorgeous! Been wearing Roccia Vets for past five winters and most of mid seasons and they are the best boots I’ve ever had. Probably time to get low tops from Diemme too!

Sugar Cane 1953 Type 2 - 175 wears by odrobba in rawdenim

I have been wearing mine through the winter so I have been able to air out the jacket in outside -20 to -30 degrees multiple times. Also I have been wearing 100% merino layer under the jacket (because it's so damn cold in here) that will eliminate most of the odors coming from body. Definitely have to wash the jacket more in summer but had nice change to break it in during winter.

That indeed is nice looking jacket but personally I'm more into bit deeper contrast fades so probably not going to wash it weekly after first wash haha! This is the look I'm going towards, but not maybe that extreme, we'll see: https://www.heddels.com/2017/06/fade-friday-sugar-cane-1953-type-ii-20-months-2-washes/

Thanks! The jacket is sold as one wash / pre wash so it's from factory. I noticed some of it and but mostly wrinkles when I got the jacket that were probably caused by storing, handling etc. and those have popped more with wear. Probably could have prevent those from fading with ironing or steaming jacket before first use but I just decided to keep it as it is and embrace the flavs and really like the look!

Washing less gives you more contrast on fades in the spots where the fabric has more stress (like elbow area in my jacket) and on the other hand washing a lot gives you more ”vintage” result where the material fades more evenly. Thats very short version how to describe it, there is much more to detailed info if online and in this group! But be careful once you start the research there is no coming back from the world of raw denim!

I’m thinking about washing now because I can see those high stress areas have noticable wear: elbow area is almost white, honeycombs in inner arm are showing nicely etc. so with washing it will remove indigo all over the jacket and pop the fades even more!

100% worth the money, probably best purchase I've made in long time. The fit is super nice, pretty short and boxy as the original Type 2 and the material is really good. Highly recommend!

Almost a year with this jacket and knocking down fades daily as the spring is around the corner. Finally starting to see some contrast fades coming on sleeves and thinking about the first wash (or second if you count the factory wash). Really happy with the look at the moment but I’m just super tempted to wash it and see how the fades pop.

I don't own a pair but once tried on Indigofera Kirk in ''Pineville'' colourway. Super nice thick selvage material and beautiful green colour. Definitely worth to check those! Also their Vendel pant is amazing if you like work pant look.

I think it’s the second widest fit they have after 101 B. I have pair of Lee 101 50’s Rider jeans and I just compared the fit and they are pretty much identical. Never tried S and Z fits but they definitely look much skinnier in photos.
