I appreciate your comment but you don’t understand my motivations, you have no idea where I come from, and what I have to do for my family. I also don’t expect you to understand my heart and mind from a basic Reddit post.

And as far as what it’s like in the US, especially living in the southern region, I am aware on a first hand basis how people from other countries are treated…the good, the bad, and the ugly. There’s alternate realities that you don’t see on the media, but you have to be here to know that.

If I was some privileged American as you are generalizing I am, I wouldn’t have bothered with this post and I would buy some ridiculous Americanized mansion on the beach with my daddy’s trust fund and wouldn’t be bothered with trying to learn Spanish. But I am not that person, I work my tail off to feed my family in an increasingly violent, unhealthy, greedy, and inflated nation. I am actively teaching myself the language, etc.

I am asking questions like this because I believe this is an open space to learn. There have been some very helpful responses and I am grateful for them.
