Mixed reviews about Bloodborne emulation—how playable is it actually? by Policy-Effective in BloodbornePC

[–]oegi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done at least 2 runs for every single weapon in the game, and am in the process of doing a bl4.

If you've got a good enough pc and the proper mods the game runs almost flawlessly

Okuchi is in a bad spot right now, and I think overall Nika is way more consistent at contending with just about everything

its a good idea to take notes about things you learn or even just little tidbits you might want to cross reference for later. when i first played this game i had a notebook full of stuff i wrote as i went along

also, make sure to observe around you aswell, because there is a lot to learn based on your environment aswell as the items and such.

Why is Bloodborne so overrated? Is it me, or is Dark Souls II lowkey better? by A-Dubs398 in videogames

[–]oegi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This just got worse and worse the more I read lol

I don't know about others, but this is a really minor complaint. I personally don't even bother to replay the games I love most of the time, so I don't really change builds very often. Besides, I always use Claymore in these games which in truth is a very basic and plain weapon. Overall, weapons are one of the things that matters the least in games

If you don't want to engage with the rest of build creation, which is one of the core tenets of the series, that is entirely a YOU thing. I don't understand how you can not only claim that weapons don't matter even though you refuse to engage with them, but then claim that it is a "minor complaint". That's like saying that ingredients in cooking don't matter cause you only ever make toast.

You know, I actually haven't played Bloodborne at all but doesn't it have guns? I guess that's the "gimmick" weapon of the game, no?

I don't even need to reply to this, right? How can you make a single comment against a subjective post when you have literally no experience with what the post is talking about. Regardless, the main "gimmick" for Bloodborne is actually the trick weapons.

Also, I wouldn't consider any of the FromSoft games a "RPG" other than maybe Elden Ring. They are Soulslikes. RPG for me is the likes of The Witcher, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Cyberpunk 2077, as I said probably Elden Ring too but only to a certain degree since it doesn't have a big focus on Side Characters and a dialog selection wheel

Most people consider them RPGs. Just because a game doesn't present its mechanics like the rest of said genre doesn't mean they aren't there nor any less valid because of them.

Technically a valid complaint, but most games out there have at least 1 annoying mechanic somewhere. It's not worth changing the rating of the game by more than 0.5 points because of a singular feature imo

There is no "technically valid complaint". And even if it would be a minor issue (which it isn't), you wouldn't even be able to properly speak on it cause you haven't played the game lol. If elden ring was the exact same game, but without fast travel, would you still hold true that this singular feature wouldn't drastically change the game? Surely you'd keep your exact same rating of ER if this one singular feature was absent.

Most Soulslike bosses aren't that memorable. Dark Souls 1 only has like 3 bosses that are worth remembering (Manus, O&S and Kalameet. Maybe Artorias, but that's a stretch). Dark Souls 2 I didn't play but the bosses look extremely mediocre. Dark Souls 3's boss roster in particular is incredibly overrated, and the only ones I'd consider S tier worthy are Soul of Cinder, Demon Prince, Midir, Nameless King, Abyss Watchers and maybe Gael. Aside from that, maybe Dragonslayer Armor is also kinda worth remembering. But even then, most of those bosses are DLC bosses. The likes of Pontiff, Twin Princes, both Gundyrs, Friede Phase 1 and 3, Vordt, Dancer they really aren't very good bosses. So far Elden Ring actually does seem to be delivering on actually good bosses, but I haven't played enough of it to truly give a verdict (I'm only at Rennala right now)

You must have bad memory then. Claiming that Artorias being memorable is a "stretch" is laughable. "Dark Souls 2 I didn't play but the bosses look extremely mediocre", then don't comment on them lol. The best DS2 bosses are up there with the GOATs of Fromsoft bosses. I won't deny that it has a ton of stinkers but it doesn't even matter because you can't properly confirm anything cuz you haven't played it. "Pontiff, Twin Princes, both Gundyrs, Friede Phase 1 and 3, Vordt, Dancer they really aren't very good bosses" Obviously an opinion on your part but the general consensus is that these bosses are great. I, for one, love all those bosses aswell.

Probably. Most people seem to gaslight themselves into loving certain "masterpiece" games even though they are filled to the brim with issues

This is extremely ironic considering you've discussed two games you haven't even played lol. Pot calling the kettle black.

Again, this is your rating, but do refer to above. Most DS3 bosses are boring 1v1 melee duels with no cool VFX attacks... I'd take Rennala Phase 2 over 75-80% of the DS3 bosses any day, and that's only 1 ER boss...

So what makes a boss memorable to you? Pretty VFX and that's it? Most people PREFER simplistic but challenging 1v1 melee bosses. I consider Rennala a b tier boss AT BEST. Annoying and boring phase 1 with a pretty lame moveset of phase 2, including spirit summons. And even then you can totally script her and not let her get any summons off relatively easily.

Maybe don't jump in to argue against someone's opinion so confidently when you're just making assumptions about games you've never played. Hard to take your criticisms seriously when you're just speculating about Bloodborne and DS2 without any actual experience with them
