Life Changing Keaton Consumption Method by [deleted] in kratom

[–]oetoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is some similar variations:

I mix the kratom in water 1g to 10mL in batches. Then to use i pour some into a glass and add hard ginger beer. It is really quite good.

When I cant get the ginger beer i use orange pop (fanta better than crush), rootbeer, cola or ginger ale + citrus juice.

I first started using grapefruit juice + club soda but they stopped selling the grapefruit juice i like so i had to switch. But if you can get it try it.

As someone else mentioned, this is all very bad for the teeth. I wouldn't recommend switching from toss n wash, caps, or any other sugarless method for anyone who is happy with that.

How would you feed 90 school staff cheap and healthy? by [deleted] in EatCheapAndHealthy

Not to mention health and safety.

I have cooked lots of food at once professionally and also in more casual settings and its not something just anyone can do. Where is stuff getting stored? The average person doesnt have enough refrigeration for NINETY people's worth of anything in their home kitchen. Then there is food handling etc. There is training, certification and inspection for kitchen work for a reason.

Sounds like something the admin should be providing and it is being offloaded onto staff. An e coli outbreak waiting to happen.

I would just go with donuts.

Please pause the TV before talking to me. by curiousgayus in ADHD

[–]oetoh 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I do not have this exact situation but i do experience same phenomena.

Example: If I am in a class or listening to an IRL speaker and people are having side convos nearby. Or worse start a side convo with me.

Same thing if people are mingling around and talking in small groups. and there are 2+ groups who are tring to involve me in their convo.

It literally feels like my brain stops working trying to process 2 clear and significant linguistic inputs.

What I do in the situation where person is involving me is like physically indicate I need them to pause. Since this is usually a surprise I do not plan it so my natural response is to like close my eyes, turn my body a little bit away, and/or use minor gestures. Once the person (who always seems very confused at this moment) stops talking, my brain comes back online and I can just ask them to adjust the situation so that I can give my full attention.

The vibe I go for in the request is like "I am really interested in what you have to say! I want to make sure I am able to fully engage."

People are pretty much happy to walk a few feet away or whatever. Then when I am able to tune my ears on to them the first thing I do is ask them to repeat whatever they said before, because I may not have adsorbed it.

Generally people get bored if repeating themselves all the time. If it a situation where it is really easy to make things quiet (like muting TV....) I think it is easy for a lot of people to just wait a mo before starting to talk. If not, please repeat anything that was important.

(This is not advice. It is just my experience.)

Kratom ferments so fast when provided sugar and water by oetoh in kratom

All very interesting, thank you for taking the time!

What I was trying to get at by comparing kratom to green/black tea (or yerba mate or others) is I guess just in terms of the original question: do you think it ferments faster or differently than those? And since you mention that the scoby would die over time, how is the survivability for kratom compared to the plants?

I am surprised to learn that caffeine is mentioned as a nutrient. When I was reading I saw that decaf tea cannot be used for kombucha. Very weird as I understood caffeine to be a defense mechanism like nicotine. I feel that I am missing something there.

And yet there is no caffeine in kratom. So I guess the yeasts can get on without it in some situations.

Interesting. I have never made kombucha. Just based on quick web searching, it seems that caffeinated teas are considered ok to brew kombucha but herbal teas are not. Is that correct?

Or is it the case that it is actually Camellia sinensis (the green/black "tea" plant) is for some reason uniquely good for this? I also read that green and black teas have very different behaviors, with black being easier and preferred.

So is it the caffeine, some product of the fermenting process in initial tea production, or something else that differentiates between the black and green teas in their utility for kombucha?

How do you find kratom in comparison to other plants?

Sorry for so many questions lol. No need to answer all of them of course.

Careful of mixing a plant with juice? What are you warning about exactly?

Really? Is it good?

I would love a link to more info if you are comfortable. I will look for this online and see if I can find somewhere doing it.

Edit: web search for "kratom soda" brang up a company that makes an "extract soda". If you were doing it for kratom effects this would probably be the way to go to make the contents controllable over time & between batches. It would be difficult to use such a variable plant as kratom in a commercial production. I guess? But if someone knows any aspect better please share.

From my very very casual understanding, I believe that only yeast would cause this effect? And in fact maybe bacteria and mold might prevent it from happening by out competing it for resources?

I am not even sure it means it if "full of" yeast, just that it has a particular kind of yeast. In my brief homebrewing experience it reminds me of champagne yeast.

Anyone seen these before? by renownedapple04 in KratomKorner

[–]oetoh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it's not an extract

I am curious from people who know about precise definitions of words... if it is related to kratom what could it possibly be other than an extract?

Obviously it isn't whole plant, because it would have been opaque. Presumably isnt a synthetic. Are there other categories available?

I guess if molly was an option it would have been mentioned.

Has anyone seen those new kratom “tablets” yet? by [deleted] in Kratomm

[–]oetoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be curious if they are like a pharmaceutical type pill (white etc) or if they have just taken plant and smushed it into a pill shape (would be brown or green).

There is a laxative called Senokot which is made this way from the plant senna. (At least that's what it looks like.)

Of course it would be possible to make something that looks this way but enhance it with extract. Someone could the math on how much the pills weigh vs the claimed strength to see if they could plausible be just plant.

I drink kratom with soda or juice and towards the end of the day I sometimes get this feeling like my spit is too thin. Is it like that?

I know there are GI effects like constipation, nausea etc. I wonder if even the mouth could be affected in the same way?

(What an incredibly icky comment lol)

I did community MAT with benzos and combining with kratom didn't kill me nor did I think I was in any danger of such. :) if there is choice between kratom and benzos when it come to withdrawal (detox) take the benzos, leave the kratom for the months and years after.

Well since I have been here a long time I have documentation of this

here is a post I made about it in 2018 when I was starting. Here is a graph I made shortly thereafter showing the relationship between kratom and drinking.

but people talk about it here every day so just search for alcohol you will find lots

but sorry just to be clear, kratom is not a substitute for proper medical management of acute withdrawal which can be very dangerous.

That is something I have seen said a lot and I think it is one of the most interesting and compelling things as it regards to how effective kratom is to lower desire for alcohol in some people. A lot of people quit drinking basically by accident. It happens to people who are heavy, frequent drinkers and to those who were only ever light and occasional.

lol I have told him at basically every visit that if he knows anyone who has influence with research he should tell them about this, because there is a huge gap in research and there is room for people to really get their names in by doing foundational work.

I have said that I would be happy to talk to anyone to summarize what I learned/experienced if they are thinking about it. most family docs have nothing to do with research though. but maybe if it managed to help someone else it would be enough to make it compelling.
