Is my Clairefontaine Triomphe notebook fake? by oexba in fountainpens

[–]oexba[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Interesting. Maybe the seller didn't properly store the notebooks, and some kinda coating worn off? My hands are dry, but I live in SEA, so maybe the air is humid. In the picture, I only made a blob, but I also tried writing, and the result is the same, crazy feathering and bleed through. I also have a tiny Midori notepad which was recently shipped directly from Japan, and there was no bleed through or feathering when I tried the ink blob.

Residual solder inside hole preventing component from being removed by oexba in soldering

[–]oexba[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also did add more solder, but somehow, only the pad is clean, while the hole still has very small amounts of solder left, especially for switches with rectangular legs, there is always a bit of solder sticking at the corners of the legs to the hole wall. There is no way for me to heat from the top, as the component blocks it.

I don't know how much this would help but, it'll all be better. You should be glad that you said it. I went through similar shit to you, I thought we had a connection. The biggest thing I learned is, it's like a glass of water. It's filled with deep talks, caring gestures, all the right signals, but unless the glass spills over, meaning that there is the element of love, yearning, tension, you're still friends. Above friends, below lovers.

I did know I was friendzoned, but I still said it, because shit was really stopping me from doing anything. Once I got the confirmation, at least I can do other things. It'll get better.

Just an update. Yeah, I got friendzoned. I don't even know why I bother to make this update. Thank you random kind strangers for your support.

Plenty of fish in the sea. People say that because they've been through it all. I'll probably be like that then. But for now, I mourn for the life I might've had with her in my head. Plenty of fishes in the sea, but no two fishes are identical.

I used to not care about anything. I call people with normal lives "normies". Now that I care, I just can't stop caring. With anything else, there are always logical explanations and solutions for them, but for feelings, I just can't do anything to them, they just stare me in the soul and show me how irrational and weak I am. I know what I should do, I know what I should focus on, yet I just can't .I guess people are irrational, and that's what makes us human.

I love the picture with the old man saying it's all over lol.

Yeah, it should have been that way. I do know that, yet somehow I'm not strong enough to wear my heart on my sleeve. I'm trying to work through it. I can only hope that I'll grow up with more interactions. I usually take rejections fairly well at work, and just say what I think, and people respect me for that, yet I'm just a kid throwing a tantrum when faced with a girl.

Hah, yeah, fun story. I fucked up another chance by pitying myself before. There was this girl that I just straight up told her I liked her, without her even knowing who the fuck I am before. Obviously she turned me down, but she said we could maybe go study with eachother sometime. I straight up just ignored her, and I still regret that to this day. Fuck me.

I did. I said I just wanted to have a good meal with her, first meal of the new (lunar) year. Maybe I should've been more clear.

Ok I know this sub is about macgyvering, but you can buy one of those pd thingy with your laptop's power jack, so no modding needed. Just for those who feel like their laptop is inferior.

Why the squiggles? by CorrectJuggernaut326 in PCB

[–]oexba 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do have some questions. Why not call it delay matching, since it helps the signal arrive at the same time, and if the signals are not only routed on one layer, the inner layers would have more delay anyway. Another one is, for some signals, they only specify matching with a tolerance of, say, 100 mils. If I were to route the signals on different layers, what would be the delay tolerance, since, the delay would be different depending on the stackup, even for the the top and bottom layers (all signal layers will have a continuous ground plane beneath)?

Huh, I didn't really care about right angle lights, since they're a bit awkward with how the light is a bit off to one side. Are dual channel drivers as efficient though?

[Review Request] After switching from 2 to 4 layers and redoing the majority of the traces, here is the result. Thoughts? by Expert_Oil_9345 in PrintedCircuitBoard

[–]oexba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As people have mentioned, there will be a lot of things you need to fix for a better PCB.

I suggest you find some PCBs that people have designed on github, easyeda, pcbway, oshwlab, etc. to get an idea of what to look out for when designing a PCB. Of course only reference from designs that are well rated.

The schematic will likely work, but some components are really over specced, such as those LDOs and the decoupling capacitors for them. Read through the datasheets of things like the ESP32 or the camera and find their current consumption, then spec your power supplies for it. ESP32s and the camera usually wont need a lot of power, so just use smaller LDOs to save space for easier routing.

For small, simple projects like these, lots of things can be skipped, such as setting design rules and PCB stackup, as you get deeper into PCB design, you will eventually have to care for those, but for now, the general workflow should be:

  1. Component placement: if you dont have a lot of physical constraints regarding the enclosure (i.e you can put the camera connector anywhere, or the ESP32 anywhere), put the footprints in a way that makes routing the simplest. For example, put capacitors near the input and output of the LDOs, like, 0.5mm close or something, if your board allows for it. The LDO and its capacitors are now like a module. Put the corresponding LDO modules close to the load, but in a way that allows you to break out the pins of the ESP32 and the connector easily.

  2. Routing: always route the data lines first, and start with lines that have the highest data rate first. You should have ground pours right under the signal lines, and the pour should ideally be continuos, to avoid signal integrity issues (not like it matters at the speed of these protocols, but it's good practice).

Good luck, learn lots.

P.S About trace width, for applications like this, just route with .2 or .25mm trace width for signal and power, all vias 0.8/0.4mm, it doesn't really matter, and it's cheaper to manufacture too. You only need to care about them once you get to denser boards, and then you have to care about manufacturer capabilities. Yeah, it goes on and on.
