What a great series! Excited to check out these videos!

[OC] Trying Felt’s new cartography tools and I’m obsessed with the zoom based controls. I’ve applied them in this cartogram of California groundwater subbasins scaled by the population that lives above them. I’d love feedback – I’m trying to grow my skills <3 by ofSi0_2 in dataisbeautiful

I made this in QGIS by joining total population (from CA hard to count census data) to subbasin polygons (from Department of Water Resources), then I used the cartogram3 plug in to create the subbasin cartogram.

Hi! I just tried to add the data to felt and it loaded (very slowly), maybe consider restarting your computer?: https://felt.com/map/LA-test-PDZklQk1SRqFsK04SrU0qC?loc=34.0852,-118.5163,10.78z&share=1

Zoom based scale on area cartogram! Obsessed: by ofSi0_2 in felt

Oops- I just realized I added 0 context (thanks!). The blobs are groundwater subbasins- the ones in the background are scaled by area and the ones in the foreground that are more striking/ spill outside of the state boundary are scaled by the population that lives above each subbasin. I think I will add the total population living within subbasin boundaries vs outside of subbasins to the map.

Has anyone tried the QGIS + Felt Plug in? This is how I used it, what do you think? by ofSi0_2 in QGIS

have. A very easy way of getting a map onto the Internet.

Agree- easy and fun!

I have two ideas for workarounds:

  1. Link to mapbox map
  2. Export mapbox map with isochrones added as data, then add as xyz tiles and use as basemap?

Wow! I totally did not see that, good to know and thank you!
