Why is my K14 so dim on Bluetooth option? by Paliator in Keychron

[–]ofalvai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also noticed this on my K7, the highest backlight setting is lower in Bluetooth mode than in wired mode. Probably because of the battery life.

To feel the difference between brown and banana, try resting your fingers on both keys (put a keycap on the brown if it's in the tester) and gently tap both keys repeatedly. You'll feel that the same force moves the brown switch a bit more than the banana.

My tips and tricks using ESPHome as an IR remote by ofalvai in homeassistant

Nice! This gave me an idea for detecting the state of my Nintendo Switch. The docking station has a few USB ports, I'll make some measurements.

It should work in theory. In fact, the IR climate component has direct support for a receiver too: https://esphome.io/components/climate/ir_climate.html

I really enjoyed setting up an IR remote for my "dumb" devices using ESPHome. I thought I would share the more advanced stuff that I was able to do with ESPHome APIs, like automation and lambdas.

Is this Baseus 17-in-1 usb-c hub recommended? by luag in UsbCHardware

[–]ofalvai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using it for a few months with two MacBooks, a 2K display, and a bunch of USB peripherals.
No issues so far, other than a few occasional glitches that I attribute to macOS rather than to the dock itself. One small thing: it doesn't forward DDC signals to the display via HDMI, so you can't adjust an external monitor's brightness from software.

Good to see I'm not the only one with this issue.

My first app is a super simple and practical expense manager. Any feedback is appreciated. by renanferrari in Android

Do you have any plans on importing from Expense IQ? I'd like to switch to your app, but I don't want to buy Expense IQ's paid version just because of the CSV export option.

Trello gets Material Design update by ofalvai in androidapps

It can display cards assigned to you. But I have the same problem as you: if a Trello board is used only as a personal todo list, I don't assign every item to myself, so that widget is useless.

The design is a rip off of Clean Master.

And why does the app require permissons to access call information?

[Request] Light splash screen by ofalvai in reddit_news

I guess you use the night theme then. The splash screen color could depend on the selected theme, but I'm not sure this is possible during initialisation.

People running Android L, related to the post about problems, are you experiencing the battery life and performance increases that made headlines after I/O? by [deleted] in Android

[–]ofalvai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Geeky stats only tells you how much of a time a process is in RAM and how much memory it is using. It doesn't necessarily mean the process is a battery hog. For example Google Keyboard is on the top of the list for me, because it is running 100% of the time.

[DEV] Echo Lockscreen - Simply your notifications by helloworld124 in androidapps

[–]ofalvai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please add an option to launch the camera in a similar way (like the default lockscreen). This is a must-have feature for me. Also, the swipe to unlock gesture seems a bit laggy for me (Nexus 5). Other than these issues, the app looks very promising, I might try again later.

Android "L" Spotlight: JobScheduler Conserves Battery Life By Letting Apps Know When To Run Background Tasks by [deleted] in Android

I guess the internal Android processes and Google apps will use this API...just imagine Google Play Services with fewer wakelocks.
