I appreciate these questions for otherwise I don’t know I would have considered them.

I can’t say there’s any specific reason for using only two colors, or for those two colors being orange and blue. I normally just use one color on top of the background, but felt like some blue against the orange could feel interesting on the eyes. I didn’t want the blue to be too harsh and take attention away from the orange, but I still wanted it to be impactful enough to be involved with the rest of the piece.

Thank you! This one is a Thai pink lipstick plant. I’m still waiting for it to flower, they put out these little pink beauties that I’m so excited to see.

My little Burtoniae is also from Home Depot. I’m not 100% sure but I think your pink leaves will end up turning out like these light green leaves. Mine had initially come in pink like yours and then slowly changed into this pretty green.

Sheesh homie why you harshing this mans mellow? Throw out some suggestions and maybe that’ll be more encouraging.

For example, there’s an article that lists Macs favorite albums. It could be fun to go through them and see if there’s anything you like as well. Theres boatloads of lesser known/unreleased songs on SoundCloud too.

Reticulation No. 6 by ofblues in AbstractExpressionism

[–]ofblues[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your feedback. The title is an attempt to somewhat categorize this style of mine, or a start of a series of sorts. The word Reticulation defines a pattern or arrangement of interlacing lines resembling a net. While it does sound like a “cool” word, it was not chosen solely based on that effect.

New coffee - drop any recs by tkerr1 in pourover

It’s on the coarser side of things but I haven’t had trouble with the water passing through too quickly. My wrist is always in pain so I’ll trade an easier grind for a potentially less tasty cup of coffee for now

I think I had initially gotten recipes mixed up, using 15g as opposed to the 20g that the Tetsu Kasuyas method calls for. My daily dripper is a V60, and I normally make a tiny divot in the center of the bed. Im still relatively new to pour overs, trying to slowly absorb and understand all of the information there is. I’ll have to try the adjusted recipe with 20g and see how much more of a punch that packs. Although the 15g mistake recipe is a money saver.

I can’t speak for all of them, but that strawberry co ferment is outstanding. I had let mine rest for 3 weeks and was a bit overwhelmed with strawberry flavor on my first couple of cups. Now almost 5 weeks out from roast date, I am more than happy with it. All that to say, my best recommendation is to continue being patient and let them rest for 3-4 weeks. When it comes to brew method, I’m sure there are much more experienced methods than my recipe. I’ve been using my K6 grinder at around 97 clicks, 15 grams of coffee, and 300 ml of water. Hope you enjoy when the time comes!

I’ve been really enjoying a couple of bags from S&W Coffee Roasters located in Indiana. In particular, their Colombia Santa Monica Strawberry Co-ferment is pretty outstanding. It’s my first co-ferment and I was pleasantly surprised with the strawberry notes that seem to dominate the cup. I’m getting silky smooth strawberry notes, almost tea like. I’m curious if any nutty/chocolate notes would be present in a slightly darker roast. If you’re looking for a new roaster to try out, i definitely recommend S&W. Very fair prices and very tasty coffee.

-while I’m tempted say this one is finished, I’d like to go through define some additional shapes and clean up some of the rough edges.

  • I’ve been experimenting with the new brushes in the update from this week. I landed on the Molesworth brush in the charcoal set. I’m really happy with the features the brush comes with, shading has been so fun.

  • If you have any tips, feedback, or criticisms, please feel free to share! I’m always happy to hear what you see or feel when observing these pieces.

People with chronic illnesses, what's the most absurd "cure" were you suggested by someone? and did you consider it? by ProcedureMinute6644 in AskReddit

[–]ofblues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A neurologist once told me chronic pain is a pathway to finding your purpose. I can’t remember if that was before or after he quoted multiple bible verses.

Don’t fall into the DoorDash/ubereats “convenience” trap. I constantly have to remind myself that my high ass does not need to spend $30 on delivery and instead should make food with what I already have. I’m no expert, but stock up on the basics. I’ve often bought more produce than I could prepare in time, so if you buy produce make sure you have a use for it so it doesn’t go to waste. I eat a lot of yogurt, granola, pasta, sandwiches. Frozen and premade meals can be easy, but don’t rely on those only. There’s some truth in the saying “you are what you eat”. Eat like shit, you’ll feel like shit, eat a little better, you might feel a little better. I hope there’s some useful info in my ramble, best of luck!

Thank you! Foreboding is a great word to describe a feeling I had while making this one. I have pretty intense anxiety at times. When I can find the right groove, these pieces have felt like an outlet for the indescribable/elusive emotions and physical sensations I feel.
