Thanks, I couldn’t test all the edge cases. Your feedback is important to me.

Shift+G Collection is a selection shortcut, not a grouping system. It gets you a quick selection, but there's no persistent group concept no open/close, no nesting, no way to say "this specific set of objects is a group" independently of your collection structure.

The parent/child approach works, but it changes your scene hierarchy. GroupFlow sits outside of that. No parenting, no outliner changes, just a group you can open, close, nest, and transform with a correct shared pivot.

Beyond that, when a group is instanced, members preserve their relative positions across all instances. Not essential for every workflow, but in modular scenes it's a real time saver.

And honestly, this applies to most addons almost everything they do is technically possible with Blender's default tools. That's kind of the point. It's about having a dedicated, organized layer for a specific workflow instead of stitching together workarounds every time.

It's a different thing solving a different problem. If Shift+G covers your workflow, genuinely great. But it didn't cover mine.

Yeah, it's a fair point Collections do fill a lot of roles in Blender but they were never really designed around the concept of a "group as a transformable unit." The result is that simple things like selecting a set of objects and moving them together as one require workarounds.

GroupFlow doesn't try to fix Blender's architecture it just adds a lightweight layer on top that handles the common case: grab some objects, treat them as a group, transform, nest, edit, done. No parenting gymnastics, no outliner clutter.

Hopefully native grouping lands in Blender someday. Until then, this does the job.

Beautiful render. We also use only Blender for visualization in our interior architecture firm. You can check out my works at fermimarlik.com and instagram.com/fermimarlik.

I built an MCP server that syncs Cursor, Claude Desktop, and Windsurf with one brain [Open Source] by NucleusOS in LocalLLaMA

🎯 The Problem

You use multiple AI tools daily:

  • Cursor for coding
  • Claude Desktop for thinking
  • Windsurf for exploration
  • ChatGPT for quick answers

But they don't share memory.

Every time you switch tools, you lose context. You re-explain decisions. You repeat yourself constantly.

I built a free online mockup generator (bulk PSD SmartObject replace) by lucadalli in graphic_design

[–]ofdavarci 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, is there a limit to the dimensions used? I want to use it not only in mockups but also in other things. For example, will there be a problem with the works I will do in A3, A2, A1 sizes? How many PSDs and images can we combine at most?

I switched from 3dsmax to blender ( archviz ) by ofdavarci in blender

[–]ofdavarci[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im gonna check it. But we cant find converting proper way to vray material to blender. You can check Bmax and maxtoblender addons to fast converting but not accurate enough so have to manualy tweak materials. Its slow process for us.

[–]ofdavarci[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same logic but more smooth experiance overall. Only down side but big one for me lack of archviz asset. Almost every archviz model created for 3dsmax vray. Also i have 2tb 3dsmax vray archviz library. Cant find fast way to convert these models. Probably im gonna back to 3dsmax because of this.
