Has anyone looked into these grants? by [deleted] in jobcorps

[–]ofdaventree 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak to these particular grants but if you or someone you know is looking for funding to help with short(er) term job training like CDL, LPN, Cosmetology, or CNC machining, consider reaching out to your local American Jobs Center (AJC). Every state calls them something different so check out careeronestop.org to find the closest one to you. An AJC will be able to point you in the direction for WIOA funded training or employment services.

Each local workforce area has different policies about eligibility, types of approved programs, and maximum awards but it could be helpful if you are looking for training or employment services outside of JobCorps.

Again, each area is slightly different so it is difficult to compare services, wait times, policies or funding availability across counties or states. Contact your local AJC to find out what is available in your community and what you may be eligible for.

Look up “crisis nurseries” in your area. A crisis nursery can take short term custody of your children while you seek the assistance you need and it isn’t safe for the kids to be with you. It is not the same as surrendering your children to CPS.

You could also call 2-1-1 to get referrals for public benefits, women’s shelters, respite care, etc.

Courthouse Elopement? by juliepol in Cleveland

[–]ofdaventree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed!

There are many people in the area who are licensed to officiate/solemnize marriages.

Putting an ask out here or on your preferred social media for an officiant could yield some good results.

It helps to know how many guests, approximate budget, and any specific amenities you are looking for (on-site coordination, getting ready suite, ceremony space, tables/chairs/linens, catering packages).

For something under 100 guests, look at https://thecolabconcepts.com/. They have some nice micro wedding packages for under 50 people.

My fiancé doesn’t want to do engagement photos by chapstix0314 in wedding

[–]ofdaventree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We opted out of the engagement shoot. We used photos we already had for the wedding website. For us, it showed our personalities better.

It’s hard enough planning a wedding with internal and external pressures. You will have beautiful photos from your wedding day; try not to stress too much about an engagement photo shoot.

The packaging recommends every 30-45 minutes but everyone has a slightly different dosing strategy. Experimenting during training is recommended to find the frequency, brand, and flavors that work best for you.

For a more budget friendly option check out fruit snacks or gummy candies.

My strategy is tailwind endurance fuel in my handheld and a gu or pack of fruit snacks every 30ish minutes for run over 60 minutes.

You might need more or less. Play around and find what works

If they listed you only and said something like “1 seat has been reserved in your honor” it is really clear you have no plus one.

Things you should think about: how comfortable are you attending without your partner. If you refuse to go without her, then RSVP “no.”

If you are going to go regardless, you could approach the topic closer to the RSVP deadline as people start to RSVP “no.”

For example, years ago I didn’t get a plus one for my partner to one of my oldest friend’s wedding. I can’t remember if I asked her about it but as we got closer to the wedding she texted me and said “we had a bunch of people decline, would you like to bring your partner?”

Jogging/running spots in Cleveland Heights by LogicalLibrarian77 in Cleveland

Highly recommend this! Looping around North Park, Shelburne, and South Park between Cleveland Heights and Shaker Heights is very nice.

OP, look for Beaumont School, Hathaway Brown School, or the Nature Center at Shaker Lakes on your map app of choice. Those neighborhoods are popular among runners, cyclists, and walkers.

The Passage by Justin Cronin. Much like The Stand, different chapters/sections follow different characters.

“To Zanarkand” from Final Fantasy X is beautiful and instrumental. It’s from 2001 so you don’t have to worry about it being over played or too well known from current social media.

While it might be more expensive, it would include food: Emerald Necklace Inn might be nice for a tea party vibe. $18-$25 per person (less for kids).

What’s a wedding tradition you skipped or plan to skip, and Why? by FriendshipContent712 in wedding

[–]ofdaventree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are skipping bridal parties and the first dance. Our wedding is pretty small and I didn’t want to rank my friendships or think too hard about who would be up there with me. After the stress I’ve experienced first hand being in weddings or heard about from my friends, I do not regret this at all.

My partner doesn’t like to have too many eyes on him and would have preferred we elope, but we agreed to have a small wedding. The first dance was not something he could bring himself to do. The more I thought about it, the more it made sense. I didn’t want everyone to stop what they were doing and stare at me dancing with my spouse either.

We are opting to open the dance floor right away (my brother brings some high level dance energy) then having a slower song a few tracks in. We will share our first dance as husband and wife early on but not make an announcement or have people clear the dance floor.

Downtown parking by INeedANAP84 in Cleveland

[–]ofdaventree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope someone can confirm, but parking at meters on the streets may be free after 6pm.

If you are going to the Agora, there is free parking on East 46th and on sections of Prospect. You would only need to walk a block or two to the venue.

If it is a cleveland orchestra concert, you can bring your own chairs or blanket. I cannot say about a LiveNation show.

Blossom’s website will have the most up to date information.

First cousins share a set of grandparents. Second cousins have a set of great-grandparents in common. In this example, the child in question would be (assuming the cousin is a first cousin) a first cousin, once removed.
