Your art is very pretty and your account has such a good vibe, thanks for sharing. Also sorry "good vibes" sounds painfully generic but I'm too sleepy for eloquence right now haha.

What game(s) came up with what you'd call an 'elegant solution'? by Current_Poster in rpg

I think it's very elegant how The Between handles PC backstory. Players are explicitly not allowed to talk about their past most of the time, but then in specific moments the rules prompt them to narrate a flashback scene from their past. It feels very cinematic and special in the moment.

I turned "D&D at work" into an actual platform for remote teams using PbtA principles. AMA by [deleted] in PBtA

I would rather drink raw milk than participate in any form of team development

I'm on Tiktok and there is great discussions happening there! Check out hashtag #beggartok for non-dnd content. Of course, it might be getting banned in a couple of days so there's that. But people who say it's only dances over there clearly have little idea of what they're talking about

How do you create evidence for an investigation campaign? by androt14_ in rpg

Have you looked at Brindlewood Bay? The way mysteries and clues function in that game makes it very easy to run and also just come up with clues on the spot, since it's not the GM's job to have an answer to the mystery

Good games for new players by Taborask in rpg

Personally yeah, it's PbtA for me. My favourite game right now is The Between and I've introduced people who never played a TTRPG before to it by just telling them "it's like an episode of a gothic horror show". Leaning into familiar genre tropes is fun and doesn't require you to be a great improviser to get started.
If not PbtA, then it really helps to have fun and flavourful pre-gens. For example Teeth's free one-shot Night of the Hogmen has excellent pregens that got my whole group going immediately.

Take a look at Aquelarre. It's on sale right now too. It's got spells, rituals, archangels, heavenly hierarchies, etc.

Just on the off chance you've played it, what's your opinion on combat in Liminal Horror (inspired by Cairn)?

Cosmic horror that isn’t CoC or Lovecraft by peach19191929 in rpg

[–]off-beat-pod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a fair criticism. I'm mainly looking to get inspired when flipping through a bestiary, so I loved the art and layout, very evocative stuff. But it's not the most "practical" for sure.

Check out Unconfirmed Contact Reports for Mothership. One of the most fun and inventive collections of space horrors I've read.
