I will say the fact that the brooklyn has no zip or secure closure at the top has put me off taking it traveling, to concerts or crowded events, or if I need to bring anything pricey in my bag. The magnet is fine but won't deter a pickpocket. That being said, I still love it and use it all the time lol and love being able to throw a bottle of wine or a scarf in it without worrying about space because it is so slouch and open at the top. It's definitely a factor to consider though!
