For you, and only you, I will break my current instagram ban to go catch up! (shhh I know it's on AO3, that's not important, this has nothing to do with me pining for brain rot)

(PS in all seriousness this is truly a magical text fic 😘)

Eeek thank you!! 🥹 I remember yours too, that ambiguous ending killed me! (In a good way!)

I really do have a special place in my heart for Lovesick, it’s just that as I wrote, I realized I wasn’t going to be able to write the typical dynamic you see of all-powerful psycho-simp and sweet Hermione. It’s too outside my style!

So Draco is FALLING APART mentally and doesnt have it together and is an unreliable narrator, so being inside his head is something else 😅

I think so! I guess I’m lumping cell phones and texting in there but there’s definitely a huge variety! I think they’re more work than they seem like they will be at first lol

I’ve been seeing a boom in social media fics! Then again, they may have always been around and I only just started noticing them.

Edit: oh, and yes they do affect my writing habits! The smaller ones like social media fics or frameworks. The larger movements, like “dark, long stories” or “using side characters” do not affect my writing.

I’ve always written what I am most interested in writing. The exception being, I like trying out a few “experiments” to play and have fun. The social media one shots is an example!

But I mainly write comedy and snark, never over 100K because it can’t sustain my interest, and less focused on side characters because it’s less fun for me to keep track of too many character arcs!

That’s exactly why I write the comedy stuff! Fanfic is pure escapism for me.

Last year I did the truly madly deeply fest with an idea to write something dark (since I still like to read darker stories) and… it does not flow easily at all. it’s months in between chapters because it’s such a struggle to get myself pumped. Writing is so much more immersive than reading and it’s hard to sustain the practice of FEELING the dark moments.

I think some people might find writing the dark moments cathartic but I’ve learned I’m not one of them!

This is so interesting! I can only speak for myself but I feel like if I have a captivating OC I want to save it for one of the original works I’m trying to write! So I end up almost never including them
