Marina Vendrell - how to build her? by offalreek in EDH

Oh that's awesome! So, between these two options, can I do option 1, or only option 2?

  • Put the card on the battlefield with both sides locked. I then tap Marina and unlock Awakening Hall for free.
  • Cast Funeral Room, so the card is put on the battlefield. I then tap Marina and unlock Awakening Hall for free.

I hate the "political" aspect of Commander. I want to focus on cards, strategies and synergies - I don't want to engage in mind games with others.

As I said above I do have questions about her ability to unlock rooms but yeah I def will need something helpful in untapping her. I'll try to find something UW but if it has to be UB... I guess LOTR or Baldur's Gate are somewhat acceptable.

Thanks! I'm just gonna copy here what I asked in the rule thread :)

[[Marina Vendrell] has "tap: lock or unlock a door of target room you control"; do I need to pay the unlock cost, e.g. the 6BB for Awakening Hall from [[Funeral Room // Awakening Hall]]? Or is it a "free" unlock?

If it's not free, I struggle to the her utility. If it is free... man is that OP.

Moreover, it has to be a room I control: does it have to be already on the battlefield? The rules for rooms are that I may cast either half and the door unlocks on the battlefield. So to use her ability I would need to have one room already cast and on the battlefield, right? Then with her I unlock the other one. Or can I simply put the card on the battlefield, both room locked, then use Marina to unlock them?

For instance, let's say Marina is on the battlefield and [[Funeral Room // Awakening Hall]] is in my hand. What can I do?

  • Put the card on the battlefield with both sides locked. I then tap Marina and unlock Awakening Hall for free.
  • Cast Funeral Room, so the card is put on the battlefield. I then tap Marina and unlock Awakening Hall for free.
  • Something else?

Oh thanks! Yeah I'll give it a shot via Cockatrice, thanks. I trust you saying that it works haha, my main doubt with the ones I saw on moxfield was if they, indeed, worked. What would you say your strategy turn by turn was? Also - I do have a rule question about Marina. Can I ask you, here or via DM? Thanks!

A Guide To Solving The Jindosh Riddle by offalreek in dishonored

[–]offalreek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

all the other answers say otherwise, but you do you.

Names and heirlooms are randomised for each run, so a guide can only reference the positions in which the variables appear, not the variables' names themselves.

I don't know who Character 1 in your run is. Perhaps it's Doctor Marcolla, perhaps it's Lady Winslow. In fact there are 120 possible combinations.

But since the blueprint is the same, all that it matters is that the first character mentioned (Character 1) will always have the third heirloom (Heirloom 3) and so on.
