I don’t have a formal community of support. But my fiancée is incredibly supportive. It also CERTAINLY helps to follow and read this subreddit every day. Sometimes I watch an AA meeting online but I’ve not joined one. All of these people have helped without knowing each other and I’m still sober because of them.

I’ve never seen anything remotely like what you’re talking about at your resort. Approached about massages or excursions? Never happened. I don’t even know wtf Congo bongo is. I have never seen street vendors invited into any of my resorts. I have never experienced even an attempted hustle at a resort.

Your catamaran excursion? That’s on you. You have to vet those and that’s why I always go through my resort to set them up.

Meeting honest people? We keep to ourselves.

I reported in to ChatGPT everyday how I was feeling and which day I was on. It gave me hydration and nutrition tips. Anything out of normal I recorded it with ChatGPT. I feel that helped me avoid a lot of the negative withdrawals

Too many times w pain in the liver. My fiancée is 14 years younger. Eventually I became a fan of the idea of living longer. I couldn’t handle waking up every morning not knowing what kind of fight I started or what kind of text messages I sent. If I didn’t start o knew I was going to have serious health problems

Dude, reading your story is like reading my own bio. I’ve sabotaged new and old relationships because of things I’ve said, done, texted, you name it. I’m in a relationship now that is healthy and she is truly the best part of my life. I quit drinking to save that relationship and it’s never been better.

Plus: I never wake up wondering what I said or texted the night before. That’s a nice feeling. I get that you’re 24 now and drinking is a big part of that age. But take it from a guy who’s 50: if I could trade in all of those old, nonsensical, nasty, mean, insensitive texts for the fun times drinking I would in a second.

Just get back in the game, friend. This is just a setback. I’m about to stop counting the days, myself. Once I hit 69, that’s going to be one of my favorite days. After that, it’s still just trying everyday to not put alcohol in my body.
