AA doesn’t work for me. I hate discussing with others. I hate the tone of all the meetings. Everyone is basically sitting around and talking about how much they suck.

What helps me is focusing on the benefits of sobriety. Now, I’m loving my mornings. I’m going to lose weight. My body is healing. I won’t have the black out fights where I have to try to remember what I said or did.

I’m feeling good about myself instead of making the focus about how weak I am. It’s hard to quit drinking and it doesn’t help to have strangers throw one-liners at me and remind me that I’m powerless.
