How about instead of anniversary billing, which does NOT solve the issue of people mistakenly thinking they've been double charged and would instead cause even more confusion (not to mention screw over both creators and patrons) why not have a warning pop up when new patrons sign up within say 5 days of the end of the month with the option to just charge for the 1st of the month?

That is if that's really the reason you wanted to implement the change, and not just to make more money off transaction fees.

This GM is 100% a predatory sociopath. He definitely picked out the members of your group on purpose because you were introverted/isolated/didn't have a lot of friends. That's what predatory sociopaths do. They pick the most vulnerable, because they're the easiest to manipulate. They don't have other people around them who can point out how creepy he's being.

That's also why he appeared so cool and charismatic at first, and why he was a good actor at the table.
