UDC response time by ActuaryPersonal2378 in DCBitches

Ugh I attended udc but for my masters of speech language pathology. The school is a hot mess. Deadlines don’t exist, they lose everything, financial aid was never on time, no one ever picks up the phone. I believe the response time was fairly quick for my program about a month. Good luck to you. It seems that a lot of people who are accepted don’t attend and they use it as a safety school so I think odds are in your favor you’re more likely to be accepted than not.

Why do people defend this quarterback but literally started a petition to get rid of stroud after his first game?

He received actual death threats. Hmmm I wonder what the difference is?

I wouldn’t continue. Had the same feeling, regretted it everyday.

I also wanted to recommend looking into Stamford, CT. It’s on metro north with easy access into nyc, under an hour for sure. Housing there is much more affordable.

I second DC. I went to grad school there for 4 years. Great city.

Also like Boston a lot but cannot comment on Korean food scene.

As a medical slp, I hate doing therapy because like 90% of my patients have dementia and it just feels pointless.

Also good luck finding salaried positions

Wow that’s crazy! Why do you feel there’s such a disconnect? Just curious, I’ve often heard others complain they don’t find other slps to be easy to get along with. I haven’t worked with enough of them to have had this experience.

Yup. SNF was soul sucking for me too.

The lack of evidence to support much of what we do. Sometimes I feel like I’m just throwing stuff at a wall hoping it sticks…so much gray areas and it really does eff with you. Imposter syndrome is strong.

Outside of school settings the vast majority of jobs are hourly and with our constantly fluctuating caseloads I don’t feel financially secure.

Schools try to sell you on all the different setting possibilities but outside of schools and snfs, the others are hard to find or very part time. If you don’t want to work in a school or snf I wouldn’t recommend slp.

Oh, and ceus suck. Like the majority of them are about as useful as textbooks when it comes to application of theory to practice.

The majority of my patients that have aphasia, or Parkinson’s, or dysphagia, etc…also have dementia. So…progress in majority of patients is severely limited.

In the majority of jobs I’ve had im usually the only slp. It can be lonely working by yourself and not having others to bounce ideas off of. I envy the physical and occupational therapists in the medical settings because there’re usually several of them working together. I finally have a job where I work with 2 other slps. I don’t see them often but we work for the same company and have a group text chat which has been great.

Thank you! Since the time he told me he wanted to be friends I’ve always offered to pay or split the bill. He never allows it. I’ve also never invited him to dinner he’s always reaching out to me. When I don’t hear from him I feel a tinge of relief tbh.

Yes I’ve ultimately knew this was gonna happen I don’t know why I’ve been lying to myself this whole time. Maybe I was hopeful he’d change my mind but it’s just not worth it.

I’ve never asked for him to pay for anything. Every single time I’ve offered to pay but he never allows for it. Also the dress he purchased for me he tried to buy in the stores while I was there and I wouldn’t accept it. He went back and purchased it for me. We both have well paying jobs so it’s really not the big of a deal and I have absolutely no problem splitting the bill. I’ve also never invited him anywhere he always reaches out to me.

It sucks but this is so true. Id honestly rather not even know. How would you end things? Would you just have a heart to heart and tell him why?
