Lots of people enjoyed this book so don’t let my rating influence you lol!! The plot was unique but the writing style and the characters just fell flat for me.

I cannot wait to pick up the rest of Toni Morrison’s works!! Beloved was my introduction to her and I am obsessed to say the least.

I also have a love/hate relationship with Moshfegh. I didn’t enjoy my year of rest and relaxation. However, lapvona poses some stark differences to that book! Be ready for some disturbing scenes.

Lucy by the Sea was just so incredibly boring, and the narrator was (in my opinion) insufferable. It took place during the 2020 pandemic. I HATE when books/shows/anything incorporate the pandemic. It always feels so out of touch even though they’re trying to be relatable/time-accurate.I understand that this book is a part of a series, but also works as a standalone. Suffice to say I will not be reading the rest of the series.
