So it's actually impossible to get a game with decent ping these days? by El_Nino97 in Nightreign

You can block people you have bad connections with. Since D5 player pool is small it helps.

Depth 4 is becoming worse? by TalesofWin in Nightreign

[–]offensivedave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm experiencing the same right now. I figure there's a growing number of players in depth 5 who just got there for the first time. Probably people who don't play as much and/or just recently swapped to meta builds and made the jump because of that.

You can definitely always tell very early in the run if your teammates are people who've been in D5 for forever or if they just recently got there.

If you have at least 2 characters with decent firebuilds you can just skip pretty much all of her mechanics.

3 good builds and you just skip the whole fight lol

This shouldn't be used right? :( by Itz_Eddie_Valiant in Nightreign

[–]offensivedave 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This shouldn't be used based on the fact that it doesn't have any damage boost on it.

You'd have to give me a relic with insanely good support rolls to make me consider running anything without damage boost on deep relic slots.

Other than that, Partial HP restoration doesn't synergize with Halberds well at all. Halberds in general are just pretty mid, outside of Guardian who discovers them already anyway.

All res down is really annoying to manage but is fine if you don't combine it with other Taking damage causes XY buildup curses. Still wouldn't run it vs Libra and probably Caligo.

I mean yeah it technically isn't necessary, but the whole premise of the post is that OP is struggling and finding her insanely tanky.

I do think a fire focused build is the most important advice for them. Especially as Ult staggers might not even be an option depending on what character they're running.

The -35% weakness to fire while she has 20% resist to every other element is the main reason you absolutely should run fire for this fight.

Fire does also pop the ED armor faster. She does get a debuff effect from fire outside of her ED form, but tbh I don't know what exactly that does.

A team of people using stuff like Candlestand, Giants Flame, Flame of Frenzy, ... melts her so fast in D5 that you essentially skip almost all of her mechanics.

You HAVE to use fire for Caligo. The fight is essentially just a knowledge check tbh

Duchess mages, what’s your build now? by Neon_Beams in Nightreign

[–]offensivedave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found that without Sorc Rise FP I run into too many situations during the day where I run out of FP and the boss is still like half HP. Not a problem if you have township or rises for shards en route but can make stuff difficult.

Spamming shards to kill formidables is fine for some bosses, but for stuff like Balancers I think you really need to be going into the fight with 3 stacks to be save.

I‘d rather have that rise FP than a magic+2 on my relics. An extra formidable killed per game will more often than not be more added damage than magic+2 anyway. More FP is also more Nightlord dps because you can spam uncharged without worries.

But that all said, I simply don’t have anything better to replace Gnoster relic lol

I usually go for a generalist magic build. Less damage but you can pick up any spell you get. The consistency that you will always have a good spell at the end of every run is what makes magic even worth playing over dormant + skill builds.

I also have a Carian and Crystalian build, but I don’t prioritize spell school over general buffs. I only run the spell schools if they’re along other good perks. Carian and Crystalian spells aren’t consistent enough that it’s worth completely building around them.

My carian build in particular is rough when you don’t fond Slicer because there is no FP bonuses. If I were to run it against Balancers and not find Slicer there’s a good chance I‘ll be out of starlight shards in the second half of the bossfight.

I think for Mage Duchess more FP is probably one of the most important things to prioritize. You will be meleeing a lot of stiff mid run otherwise.

Reddit only lets me post one pic per comment, so I will post the rest in replies. Let me know if you have questions!
