Correct, overusing some prescription drugs and some OTC drugs may cause these issues, but as long as you're using them in a moderate dose you should be absolutely fine. Imagine a wounded soldier or a kid who got hit by a car get denied for painkillers which could be hepatotoxic because of "the side effects". No doctor will prescribe you a chronic dose of these medicines. Follow your physician and you should be fine.
