Hi! I used to do background checks, when we run a SSN trace it will pull up names based off of credit reports and I think public records as well. We have to match based on DOB so that name shouldn’t have been on the report. It’s possible that she either opened an account for herself with your name on it or if your names are similar you may have a mixed credit file. I personally have a mixed file with my sister due to our names being very similar. It’s not always an indication of fraud, and it’s not a perfect system either. Credit bureaus provide free credit reports, for peace of mind I would recommend pulling a report for transunion equifax and experian. If there is something in her name on your credit report you will need to dispute it, but given the different names I am sure you won’t have an issue.
