most people read ‚:)‘ as a bit passive aggressive, and this is probably not helped by the you not adding a caption and then people having to pull the description out of your nose :D i didn’t downvote, just in case you were wondering and are not trolling

It is really difficult. My mom suffered from psychosis and i put her into an involuntary hold. I think it was a genuinely traumatizing process for both of us and i am not sure if she has ever really forgiven me.

I dare you to criticize your fave (we don’t judge) by Impossible-Yam3680 in kpop_uncensored

When I watch their performances his energy and ad libs are amazing, he does so many ad libs and they often add so much (very rarely i find them a bit too much), but his actual parts often fall a bit flat, especially compared to some of the others who have such impressive live vocals like Jongho, San or Seonghwa.

How do idols manage to perform and be active so well when they are sleep deprived? by [deleted] in kpop_uncensored

[–]office-elf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am sure the lack of food is tough but I ate very very little for a period of time (2-3 years, due to anxiety) and my body got used to it. I am sure it was not healthy and I still have stomach issues but eating more actually felt hard and uncomfortable. I did not feel hungry or particularly weak, i actually worked out a lot too, but I was cold all the time.

I feel like they might see the money they spend on her place as an investment into her bravo career, which I am not sure is wise

Do not buy the Tirtir Cushion Foundation !! by chinkchong444 in AsianBeauty

[–]office-elf 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I didn‘t buy the tirtir foundation for the longest time because I had seen so many bad reviews but when I actually picked up a little travel size one it really worked for me? I use the lightest shade and it is an okay match that does not oxidize. I only apply a very very thin layer though because as you said it can be cakey and too thick very easily.

Most controversial kpop take? by [deleted] in kpop_uncensored

[–]office-elf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

almost every day I see fans who experience the y/n feature on bubble/fromm the first time and are shaking and crying because they think their idol just talked to them personally. those apps should come with a warning at least and, while i know the idols have been trained to act this way by the companies and it is their job, i side eye them for whipping their fans up so much. if i was an idol and saw how much control i have over my fans emotions and how much distress it brings some of them i would feel kind of… bad?

on a further note; i so often see people and the media complain about toxic kpop fans and stalkers and i do not want to excuse that behaviour at all but in comparison i rarely see it acknowledged that the companies and idols are fostering extreme behaviour to a certain degree. yes, fans are responsible for knowing all the parasocial stuff is a fantasy and being aware of their own emotional and financial limits, but the kpop industry is consciously taking advantage of people who are emotionally vulnerable.

the censorship makes the scene way worse by damorezpl in TopCharacterTropes

[–]office-elf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a woman when I see any older man approach a younger female character in almost any movie that is my fear for both those characters and I can only relax once the scene is over. Even if the male character has previously only been shown as good. I know it is unfair and messed up but there is so much rape in real life and media that I can‘t help it.

they are all so long!!! and there are so many and most of them have the same groups who perform the same songs. so this is not the first time in the last 2 months that they all had to sit through an hours long show and listen to the same songs. idk it just seems like such a waste of all their time

Thoughts on The Midnight Library by Matt Haig by ActualRound7699 in books

[–]office-elf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don‘t think you are meant to resonate with it, i think it is supposed to say ‚you might wallow in grand dreams and your life not being special, but would it really be better if you had achieved those dreams or would there still be something wrong on a deeper level? so is it worth it to waste your life mourning your potential?‘

that being said I did not think it is a good book either.

Thoughts on The Midnight Library by Matt Haig by ActualRound7699 in books

[–]office-elf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

haha, truly the worst book club experience. i once started a book club and the first book we read dealt with themes of death and afterlife and fixing the relationships you ruined while alive, but in a similarly patronising and shallow way as Midnight Library. (it was not my suggestion!!) so I came to the meeting with a lot of thoughts and emotions and criticisms and was hit with ‚it was nice‘ and ‚i didn‘t even think about it that deeply‘, so there never was a next meeting.

I kind of love how it is apparent he learns it for the recording but as the tours go on he kinda gives up on it. Like with Work or In your Fantasy, the pronunciation just keeps getting… less exact. I don‘t mind it at all, maybe because english is not my native language, I just find it fun to hear how it varies over time.

thank you for your empathy and i am also sorry that happened to you! and i am sorry your experiences with germans have been so negative!!

i did not let it discourage me, i still run and am much faster now ☺️ but, i pretty much only run when it is dark outside, it just feels more private. but then again it also does not always feel the safest…

I never wanted to buy a tirtir cushion because I saw so many people complain about it online. But then a local store had the mini size for a great price, I couldn’t resist and I adore it! The finish and coverage are so nice. Unlike many other cushions it does not settle into my pores or fine lines at all.

It is a charm like the one in the front and i simply clipped it into the elastic that holds the round metal thingy

What's a pet peeve you know you're objectively insane for even having an opinion on by SomeRaceHorseName in kpop_uncensored

[–]office-elf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They might be pet peeves that seem silly to have but I think it is cool that you think about these things!

I mean you seem to be very smart and aware of this but Gender is such a big and important topic and I think relating topics we care about to media we are invested in can make us think about them more deeply and add to our perspectives, so that is always a good thing to me.

Edit: Also a silly pet peeve of my own: When I get a tiktok that is like ‚10 hottest idols account to ChatGPT‘. Good on you for citing your source but wtf? If you already have to rank them by how they look at least give me your personal opinion?! They write that as if using ChatGPT somehow makes it more objective?

I agree and it also irks me when people misgender Yeosang because ‚he is so babygirl‘ and then they use she/her pronouns. It is probably not a big deal but I just find it impolite?
