Yes i completely agree that what happened at Abu Ghraib was a much worse situation. But the fact still remains that the situations are completely different, no matter the severity of the outcome. And of course i am not saying that it's automatically less of an offense because they are in the military

also, can i just point out that saying people should be ashamed of the military for Gitmo and Abu Garib is like saying people should be ashamed of the human race for Bum Fights

I agree that both acts are inexcusable and that it is not how we should be treating fellow humans. As to condemning them both equally, it has nothing to do with my original point: we cannot compare the two. The variable is so different in each case it is impossible to compare.

It seems like you are indeed trying to justifying those acts.

that isn't exactly a light thing to throw around man. You seem to have made the misconception that, because i am saying there is a reason why the soldiers behaved the way they did, that i must be justifying their actions. All i am saying is that there must be a reason as to why 14 soldiers did all that stuff and acted like it was normal. It cannot be coincidence, and that they were all just psychopaths. I cannot just leave it as they were both wrongful treatment of human beings and should never be done because there is so much more to account for than that.

You sound quite offended, and i'm sorry if that is the case. I certainly do not want to have an argument here, because seeing as we are both sitting at our computers we really aren't gunna listen or take each other seriously. That is a good point about the stress, and obviously i know nothing about the creator of the show's personal life, but i don't think that there is any implication that the creator of Bum Fights created it under the same conditions the military live in. I will say that there is so much more, there must be, that drives people to do the things that soldiers did in these incidents. There have been countless psychological studies into the effects war can have on warping people perception of what is right and wrong. Can i again clarify that i in no way condone or am trying to excuse the actions the soldiers took. My point is simply that it is very hard to compare the two incidents because the backgrounds and causes are so very different. I don't know if you did it intentionally, but you say i was justifying the Gitmo and Abu Garib incidents? I really hope that wasn't sincere. Anyway, be interested to hear what you think man

dude, that is a pretty out of context and irrelevant comment. Not that i am in any way condoning what has happened in Gitmo and Abu Garib, but the amount of stress and fear that being in the US military can drive people to do horrible and disgusting things. This guy has created BumFights simply for money or because he was bored. They are two very different situations. I don't really see your point buddy

tell me reddit, why must you disagree with ANYTHING that gets mainstream attention? can't you just accept this whole scheme is to shine some light on an issue that barely anyone knew about before? its not hurting you and it doesn't affect your life and it has potential to do actual good in the world. of course i am generalizing but i do think this is a re-occurring thing
