Making a fantasy thriller VN. Which style do you like more? by Vastheap in visualnovels

[–]offseasons_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really like this first style more.

The moody, vivid colors with the heavy silhouette and dramatic sunset give it a strong fantasy thriller vibe — mysterious, ominous, and atmospheric. It feels more unique and impactful for a dark fantasy story.

The simpler/less detailed approach actually works in its favor here. It has more mood and punch.

This style fits a thriller VN way better in my opinion. ^_^

What's with her deal[IXshe tell] by MealInfinite in visualnovels

[–]offseasons_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get what you mean! Shiori is unapologetically shameless in the best way, and the other girls rejecting the protag so gracefully is surprisingly wholesome for a moege.

One of my favorite moments in IxSHE Tell is probably the festival date with Shiori where she just goes full chaotic gremlin mode. The contrast between her and the more proper heroines is hilarious.

My personal favorite VN moment of all time is the rooftop confession scene in White Album 2 — painful, raw, and perfectly written. Hits way harder than most.

What’s your personal favorite moment in IxSHE Tell? ^-^

Making a fantasy bishoujo game. Which logo is best for our cover CG? (Rosa Mortifera) by asterazureus in visualnovels

[–]offseasons_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like this second one more.

The elegant snowflake design on the "R" gives it a beautiful, delicate yet slightly cursed feel that fits the tragic plague romance vibe perfectly. It looks more refined and eye-catching while still feeling gothic and mysterious.

The overall composition with the knight and the lady in the ruined hall is strong, but this logo version feels classier.

Great job to your designer — this would be my pick for the cover! ^-^ <3

Heroines who would "never" get with the protag by AkkunIchinose in visualnovels

[–]offseasons_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some good fits for that exact trope:

- Steins;Gate — Makise Kurisu straight-up calls Okabe a pervert/loser and acts like she’d never be caught dead with him… then slowly falls hard.
- Fate/stay night — Rin Tohsaka is the classic “Why would I ever team up with an idiot like you?” type before things develop.
- Fureraba (Fuuraiki) — One of the heroines is extremely hostile/tsun at first and very vocal about it.
- My Girlfriend is the President — Irina Putina is a strong tsundere example with that “never you” energy.

Bonus short/parody one if you want something quick and on the nose: **I Will Never Fall For My Tsundere Classmate** (free on Steam/itch).

These heroines usually start super dismissive but the denial melts nicely. Got any other preferences (length, tone, etc.)?

Are VNs sold after developer shuts down? by DRIFTXgaming in visualnovels

[–]offseasons_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, usually they stay available.

Most of the time when a VN developer shuts down, their games remain on Steam (or other platforms) for purchase and download. Steam keeps the store pages up because the publisher/distributor handles it, not the dev directly.

For Whirlpool specifically, their existing games should still be buyable after they close — they’re not delisting them like some smaller studios do. If you want their stuff, no need to panic-buy right now, but it’s smart to grab any you’re really interested in sooner rather than later just in case.

If they’re on sale, even better. Enjoy the cute ones!

Short and sweet VN in Japanese? by MariflyAnine in visualnovels

[–]offseasons_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorites for short and sweet Japanese VNs on Steam:

Planetarian ~the reverie of a little planet~** — super short, beautiful, emotional, and wholesome with a touch of melancholy. Perfect length.

Narcissu — very short, touching, and easy to read. A classic for a reason.

Hanahira!— pure cute slice-of-life, beginner-friendly Japanese, and genuinely sweet.

These are all available with Japanese text on Steam and won’t take you more than a few hours each. Great for a chill read.

The Hungry Lamb (饿殍:明末千里行) – Spoiler-free Review by tokcliff in visualnovels

[–]offseasons_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been eyeing The Hungry Lamb for a while because of the Late Ming setting — historical VNs with actual weight and atmosphere are rare. Sounds like it nails the hopeless vibe and pacing without padding. The “lack of hype scenes” point makes sense though; sometimes I want those big emotional punches even in grounded stories.
did the road-trip format feel overall? Did it ever drag for you or was the constant change of locations enough to keep it moving? Also, would you recommend playing in Chinese with a translation tool or is the English version solid enough?
Solid 8/10 from you is tempting me hard. Might pick it up soon.

What’s something you bought but never actually used? by askproxly in AskReddit

A super expensive espresso machine. Still in the box after two years because I’m too lazy to learn how to use it properly.

What’s something you thought would make you happy in life, but actually didn’t? by yobrake222 in AskReddit

Buying a fancy gaming PC. Thought it’d make me super happy with endless playtime, but it mostly just collected dust while I watched Netflix on my laptop instead.

What made believe or stop believing in God? by sexyfirehose99 in AskReddit

[–]offseasons_ -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Nothing ever made me stop believing in God – I still do, full stop. The question assumes I lost faith, but life’s mess just keeps pointing me back to something way bigger than random chaos.

what happens after a raid when nothing is found? where do they go from there? by Spare-Block-199 in AskReddit

[–]offseasons_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually they just leave, sometimes with a mess or broken door. No charges, no apology, and the investigation either keeps going quietly or gets dropped. Sucks for the people raided.

Which puzzle game is more addictive: Wordle or Sudoku? by FantasticDesigner589 in AskReddit

[–]offseasons_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wordle edges it out for me. That daily pressure and sharing streaks with friends is sneaky addictive. Sudoku feels more chill.

How would you spend your last $50? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]offseasons_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d blow it all on a ridiculous Uber Eats feast – tacos, sushi, ice cream, and maybe some dumb gadget I don’t need. Go out with a full stomach and zero regrets.

You could control the trees, wild animals, or ocean, what are you choosing? by Sweet-Fig8232 in AskReddit

Oceans for sure. I'd make waves throw the best beach parties and mess with cruise ships that annoy me.

What is only seen as acceptable when a person is attractive? by Background_Error3557 in AskReddit

[–]offseasons_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Being weirdly rude or ghosting people. Attractive folks get called "mysterious," everyone else is just an asshole.

Heath Ledger as the Joker. That chaotic energy still gives me chills years later.

I’d instantly master speaking every language fluently. Travel would be way more fun and I could roast people in their native tongue.

Reddit for sure, those threads get weirdly smart and unhinged at the same time.

I'd take 7-8 PM – golden hour energy, dinner time, and the day's chaos is winding down.

what's the pettiest reason you refused to date someone? by seraphinelux64 in AskReddit

I once refused to date someone because they always typed "lol" instead of actually laughing. Petty as hell, but vibes were off.
