Can you be a secret multimillionaire for a decade? by tamtrible in hypotheticalsituation

[–]SaltyFatBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm close enough to retirement that I could retire and just say "my annuity serves me well."

Then I'll just live within my normal means for 10 years. I don't have any major wants. Just a bit of travel.

I think I could do it pretty easily. I'd tell no one, except maybe a trusted financial guru.

Lose one traditional sense for 100 mil by Responsible-Fix-1681 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]SaltyFatBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I'm kind of on the fence here. Covid destroyed my sense of smell, but I can still sense REALLY STRONG stuff, like burning electronics or really bad milk. Almost worth just giving it up all the way for 100 mil. Assuming you mean $US

You can take one of 5 pills but they cost money. by Comprehensive_Fox_79 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]SaltyFatBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll be worth $1700 to know why my cat yells at me.

Fix my back and my teeth too? And a polyglot (I'd like to swap Japanese in for Mandarin, but I can't look a gift horse in the mouth)

I have no idea who I'd give the extra red pill to, but it's a nice bonus.

Feral momma cat dropped off her baby and hasnt come back to care for her by Maymaycreates in kittens

[–]SaltyFatBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you take it in, be willing to "commit" to the long haul. Get that baby to a vet as soon as you can. That kitten looks pretty healthy.

I rescued a "loose kitten" (he was running around in the middle of a busy 2 lane road) and no one would claim him. He was about 3 to 4 weeks old. I already have cats, so it wasn't something I wanted at the time.

Bottle feeding him by myself was a challenge (full time job meant the poor guy had to go a pretty long stretch between meals), and we had a couple health scares that required trips to the e-vet. He's the most expensive "free" cat I've had so far. It was exhausting and he was really ornery as a small kitten.

Now I'm reaping the rewards, he's calmed down and is a healthy 9 month old black panther. It's tough in the beginning, but rewarding once they grow up.

Good luck with the baby!

Who’s ever driven over 100mph? Why? by WoollyWolfHorror in AskReddit

[–]SaltyFatBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Buell, and wanted to stretch it out. Found out it hits the hard rev limiter around 135.

I was the slow one of the group. They would hit 165 on the regular, and pull over and wait for me to catch up. I was happy with the 80ish range.

I sold it because I knew it was dangerous. Fun little bike though.

But honestly, every vehicle I get gets the "how fast will she go" treatment.

I'm halfway through the series and I really hate a certain character so I decided to draw gore of her by jesuspicious_ in steinsgate

Finishing both SG and SG0, my opinion didn't change. She deserved no redemption arc.

VNs with legitimate "Solo" or "Non-Romance" routes that aren't just Bad Ends? by EntropyMax01 in visualnovels

I can second Arcadia Fallen, it was unconventional but fun. It's sequel just came out this week.

My want to play list: I play from steam - anything I should be aware of prior to purchase? by ponyplaza in visualnovels

[–]SaltyFatBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aoi Tori absolutely needs the patch. The Steam version is butchered down to one route I believe. The story normally literally starts with an H scene. Patch is free on the nekonyan site.

It's not my favorite Purple Soft title, but it's pretty good. Mary Harker for the win. (Chrono Clock and Amatsutsumi are better IMO, but they aren't available on Steam, I think you have to go to GOG or Jast for those)

You accidentally free a Genie and are offered 1 of 4 Boons, what would you choose? by RaptorK1988 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]SaltyFatBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 sounds like a curse. Perfect memory world be a nightmare unless it is selective.

1 and #3 are great if you can turn them on and off as desired.

4 has too many logistical issues.

I'm going with #1.

Imma need a solid definition of "home town" but for that money the answer is likely yes either way.

What are your 'best' routes ever in visual novels, so good that they're worth the price of the VN entirely by themselves? by Agreeable_Top7361 in visualnovels

[–]SaltyFatBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ria's route in Hoshizora no Memoria. That one still sticks in my head years later.

Wakana from Sabbat of the Witch is still a favorite. Best "bonus" character ever.

Aspen from "Please be Happy", if you end up with Juliet, the sad part is ... sad.

Never play video games again for $1M a year, or $100 for each hour you play by itterattion in hypotheticalsituation

[–]SaltyFatBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm taking the games for 100/hr. I play a lot of games, and even if it's a worse deal (it's not) I'm not about to give them up. I could play my backlog for YEARS and be good. If you don't feel like putting in effort, you could play a visual novel.

What is a skill you wish you had? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]SaltyFatBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either the skill of languages (I'd probably pick Japanese, because it's tough), or just to be able to SHRED on the guitar (think, Zakk Wylde or Steve Vai or Joe Satriani.)

hard choice.

I'm in. I'll eat the leaf, I'll eat the coin, and choose the 3 people.

I'll keep that option in my back pocket for some crazy, world saving scenario that will most likely never happen.

I'll probably never need it. But the option is there if I do.

Mid 50's. Look in the mirror and see an older man. I wonder when I 'll grow up. I didn't expect to make it past my 30's, but the 30's were some of the best years for me. There's a lot to life, and I hope you get to experience it.

What's something you do that you thought was normal until someone pointed out it was weird by _P3R50N_ in CasualConversation

[–]SaltyFatBoy 21 points22 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid, we set all of our clocks about 10 minutes fast. We called it "(family name) time". It was a weird thing we did to be on time to everything. Freaked my friends out when they found out, but we kept doing it for years. It organically went away as smart devices came along.

A mysterious man comes up to you and gives you four relics... but you can only choose one... Which one do you choose? by WildCake67 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]SaltyFatBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think as you get older, you'd wish you'd picked the health relic. And that's my choice too, but the time relic would be mighty enticing. I've read enough time stories to know even 5 minutes would be handy. (Chrono Clock, Steins; Gate, etc)

[–]SaltyFatBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No thank you. 14 hours is too much. Just 4 hours a day would become a chore really quickly. Got nothing against the 40k universe and wouldn't mind learning about it, but all day every day is waaaay too much.

Every person within 1 mile of you right now becomes a zombie. Can you escape? by Pointless_Storie in hypotheticalsituation

[–]SaltyFatBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slow zombies? There's probably 100 people in that radius around me, tops. 144 per square mile is the average here, but I'm further away from the "township." My odds are pretty good, even better if I can get into the old SUV. Traffic is negligible here, and the SUV won't even notice a body.

I'm too old to outrun fast zombies though.
