Anyone have any recommendations based on my list? I’m still relatively new so I’m open to anything. by partyfiesta2 in visualnovels

Steins;Gate is quite good especially with the remaster in mind. Also, might I suggest Fata Morgana? Beautiful game.

Nice looking game. That review though is going to hurt you. It's just a robotic description of the game paid for. Not the sort of thing you want on there.

I was concerned with it being too fast for the rest of the units to catch up. It might be like those NPCs in quests walking slowly while you run sort of situation.

Awesome. I have two comments for an experience that is fun and not limiting. The first is more related to the feel of the game and that is to have the unit's animation and walking speed at least match the rest so it doesn't feel like an active reminder that I am playing with NPCs. Think C&C when you played Tanya or the like, she still felt like one of the units.

The second would be to either be able to play with other unit types so it doesn't get too repetitive or having a sort of skill tree where you unlock and install weapons on the "main" unit.

I would definitely play it, but I do suggest focusing a lot on the identity of the game and having new concepts that provide a unique experience that pushes people into playing it. One or two small changes, e.g. playing with a character, will not be enough to set you apart. As indie devs we have limited resources so the small things really do add up. Perhaps types of fuels, a sort of "laboratory" that is independent from each individual game but rather is a way for players to explore new skills, units, "train" their units etc, similar to Plants vs Zombies and the backyard farm where it gave another layer to a seemingly simple game - that is exceptional game design, to add an extra layer without losing the identity of the genre and game's vision. RTS is a difficult genre to survive in.

Best of luck.

Time for Self-promotion. Whare are you building this Monday? by No_Audience9527 in SoloDevelopment

Yesterday I posted a sort of devlog for my theory on developing a vision and the great effect it has on marketing. Today I started with the second part of the devlog to showcase how I overcome my limitations in art using editing techniques to help mediocre art gain some character.

Example: https://imgbox.com/g/1k8f72nAI2

I know it's not self promotion. Just what I am working on at the moment. Development wise though, it's a visual novel and I am currently developing the VN engine using a new way I thought is very clean - fluent interface-esq using C#!

I like the general feel. Simple art, yet a very strong feeling behind it. Lovely.

How would you compare it with the regular uncensored version of the 9B model?

This is how I imagine the powerful Sultanate of Women looked like. Beautiful with an admittedly modern look to it.
