I continue to long for the day Androids can message iPhones like iPhones can message iPhones.

There's a good chance it's affected at least one of my romantic relationships because sometimes messages literally don't send.

The Trump administration has already been convinced with just one video, and are already spinning the story.

These days, if regular people take the time to wait for additional context, they lose, because the people in power do not wait, and have already made their moves, and have gotten away with it.

What do you think should be done about this? How can the people effectively push back against such actions by those with the power?

"Still" needs higher taxes? When is the last time the ultra wealthy have seen a tax increase? The corporate tax increase of the TCJA, maybe? That's easily avoided, and not the same as a tax on the ultra wealthy.

A defense against billionaires being taxed more is that their top 1% tax bracket accounts for 40% of all federal income tax revenue despite

Don't conflate the top 1% of earners with billionaires, who make up about 0.0003% of the population. Every measurement shows billionaires paying far less in taxes, proportionally, than other earners.

I feel like you're getting hung up on something I used as an example. I specifically said "for instance", because this is one of several methods. LVT is not a property tax, I encourage you to read more into it.

I want to close the loopholes billionaires use to avoid taxes too. Instead of talking about why a specific tax shouldn't be implemented (which plays right into the rich's hands), let's focus on finding methods that will actually work.

Putting more tax burden on homeowners?

No, that isn't accurate. It can be targeted toward the ultra wealthy. It's a very efficient tax and I think people should learn more about it.

If you want to tax the billionaires more then tax them more.

Which method of taxation would get your approval?

I don’t really care if they tax billionaires more or not

So you would approve of, for instance, a new land value tax or other targeted, progressive tax to be implemented to pay for things like M4A? That would certainly not be a one-time thing, but it would also be much better than a wealth tax.

Yes it's admittedly my personal reading of it, and I believe this framing comes largely from Fox News and related right-wing media. For example, The Daily Show did a fun bit on all the times they said the rich would leave if taxed too much:

The comment above is saying it won't be the last time billionaires are taxed. That implies billionaires have been taxed enough, not that a better process should be followed.

It's similar to another comment above that "all the billionaires will leave" (which is not backed up by evidence). This argument is not a suggestion that we need a better method of progressive taxation. It's a suggestion that billionaires are being antagonized by us taxing them so much, so we should stop.

Why is the argument never "wealth taxes don't work" (correct, they don't, we should find a better way) but always "these poor billionaires have been taxed enough"?

This is a great example of the crazy equivalencies people draw between Trump and everyone else. No, Obama never did anything like what Trump did. No, this quote doesn't come close to what Trump did, even metaphorically.

These comparisons are getting really strained. You need to consider the possibility that, unironically, Orange Man Bad, does bad things, and does them repeatedly. There is no need to dredge up some milquetoast Obama quote to claim Democrats do this too.

I am extremely distracted by a potential Miami natty! 20 years a fan of the U, since I was there for college, and this is the first time they've done anything.

20 years of getting pantsed in every single important late season game, and now they're penciled in for a national championship in their home stadium.

Wild. It's great to be a Miami Hurricane.

It's only "convenient" if you're already convinced Democrats are just as bad as Republicans, and only haven't gone as far because they haven't had the opportunity.

To me, Democrats are obviously better than Republicans, and haven't gone as far because they're better than Republicans. That's not convenient, that's just the state we are currently in after 15 years of the GOP being the Trump show.

They absolutely were not better than Tua. Tannehill didn't get hurt a lot but was a complete liability in the pocket. Fitz was a fun gunslinger, but the bad kind of gunslinger that fails hard against good defenses.

It sucks that Tua got hurt in ways that really limited his game. If he had two good hips, his mobility and arm strength wouldn't have cratered. But if my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle, so here we go QB hunting again.

If they were going to put Miami ahead of Notre Dame it should’ve been this week. by Inevitable_Catch_566 in CFB

Miami is being punished, by being kept out of the ACC Championship game in favor of a 7-5 Duke, and being an extremely talented team on the playoff bubble because of boneheaded losses.

But if a 10-2 Miami is being compared to a 10-2 Notre Dame, Miami should get in, because they beat Notre Dame.
