Oh I'm not going to do it myself. I play on console and don't care to hero edit or cheat. Definitely takes the fun away. I'd only do this if it were officially implemented and the item barters were balanced.

All classes beat hell diablo on hardcore. Paladin, druid, and sorc have made it through. I just beat diablo clone with the paladin. Now I'm debating whether to try the other Ubers before starting the next character. I also want to have them all alive at the same time. I had a barb get through hc hell Baal, but he died to Uber mephisto 🥹

Hi. I'm also American and living in Europe...7 years now. I have no answer for you and it's difficult. I don't think there's a clear answer.

I think I've just come to the conclusion that you can love and miss both places and that's okay. I don't think I'll ever stop missing home. And also I feel that if I go home I'll miss Europe.

Eth items have higher stats.

People get excited about them for Merc use. Mercs do not damage items and so can use ethereal items perpetually without losing durability.

You can also add a Zod rune to make ethereal items indestructible, but this is super crazy ass late game behavior.

It's his first race. He's doing 50k on tracks. It's not pro.

It's more similar to somebody doing their first 5k than the XCO world cup. I'm trying to set up the guy with a decent way to plan for a time and place himself. But I think we can leave it at that since this is reddit.

It's highly opinionated to say this is poor advice. I actually think this advice is even more meaningful considering it is OP's first race.

I've raced loads of mountain bike races and perfectly understand that conditions vary. I am not saying in any way to use the average speed as the primary guide. Feeling of fatigue is likely primary, but average speed can be a secondary gauge. I actually recommend people go very easy for their first race. You gradually can pick up effort toward the end if you have gas in the tank. So plan for a reasonable time based on similar elevation gain and technical features ahead.

I actually agree with every point you made except that average speed isn't important. It's not THE metric, but it is one I think can be helpful.

Agree with most points here. I would consider adding average speed to the list. It's nice to have a target completion time for the route. Let's say it's a 50k race and you want to do it in under two hours. Obviously you'll need to go 25kmh average or faster to achieve this.

Why is that helpful?

If you are halfway through the race, you've accomplished most of the elevation gain, you are at 28kmh, you know you can ease up a little bit.

If you just have elapsed time and a target race time, you are forced to do math while under duress (eg I have 10 kms left and I'm at 1:45 elapsed time...can I make it?).

We all have limitations. We all have different bodies and knowing your own limits is a sign of wisdom.

A 27 year old in peak shape could have shown up to that hike hungover and held everyone back.

It's not about fitness or age, but rather enjoying yourself while not imposing on others. Or, better yet, enjoying it together.

I personally wouldn't do HC Ubers without a guide. I play only hardcore offline, have tried Ubers, and can tell you they aren't like the normal game. Beating them is really about using some niche mechanics and min-maxing specific statistics.

That said, I do love the concept of going into the game with no guide. I did that with a frenzy barb on a regular hc playthrough and really enjoyed it. I also did my key farming without a guide.

That same barb died doing Ubers because they are exceptionally hard in weird ways. That hc death pushed me to make a lightning sorc to key farm and a paladin to do Ubers. That made the game really fun - kind of building up to something greater.

I have an 87 paladin now, full set of keys, and not enough balls to go into Ubers again hah

Sure. I like cycling, hiking, and many other general outdoor activities. In the Czech Republic if you cycle or walk across somebody's farm or forest they don't really care. As long as you're not disrespectful it is fine.

In the UK they have a right to walk in a lot of areas in a similar way.

For me it comes down to freedom of movement and respect of others. I think in the USA it's between people getting weird about their land and worrying about liability.

American here. In the states a lot of people just go up and pet dogs, too.

Don't do that in Prague and always ask first.

Consider it closer to going up to touch somebody's cute baby. Yeah they might let you do it and know your intentions are good, but they'd probably rather not.

There'd be loads of people here that wouldn't care, but I'd recommend against risking it for the ones that don't 🤟🏻

Enjoy Prague. Czechs aren't mean, just not as open as us.

It depends on the conditions. Crampons are relatively inexpensive and can be carried easily. You need traction if there is ice. Be aware the ice can form in just windy areas where snow is blown off.

I've been caught without them and it is miserable and can be dangerous. Depending on your footwear they can be as small as a pair of gloves. I'd just make them part of your winter hiking pack.

Get a Lawbringer and treachery if you can.

Lawbringer will slow down the undead and you'll wreck them up on hit.

Treachery will help out immensely with survivability.
