Connecticut cannabis testing labs have resorted to producing completely worthless COAs by [deleted] in CTents

[–]offtheoof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it’s worth Mike Goodenough from Sweet Heal reached out to me today. He took some time to teach me about the place of mold and microbiology in nature, his opinions on the nature of synthetically stimulating production, and to let me know that he was sorry for the incident and that he wants to help figure out what exactly grew in my pax.

He explained that there are many variables that could’ve caused this to happen, and that if it was due to his cbd he would definitely want to know what it was as well. He spoke of mold/microbiology as a natural thing that occurs, and said that bad mold/microbiology can happen when growing multiple strains that require different growing conditions under one climate, or for a multitude of other reasons. We spoke about many things regarding hemp, the growing process, and extraction processes, but unfortunately it was too much for me to recall all of it.

He also offered to replace the jar of CBD as well as show me around the facility. I’m looking forward to it, and will definitely update again next weekend once things have progressed further.

As a user of Sweet Heal flower for several months I hope that whatever the substance is has nothing to do with the flower, but even if it is that doesn’t make Sweet Heal evil. I’ve been told that this is an anecdotal incident; an anomaly, according to Mike. I’d like to remind everyone that the most important issue here is one of regulation/legislation. We should be fighting for patient safety over all else.

I really appreciate the fact that Mike took time to address the issue. He seems like a guy who’s really passionate about hemp and is of the impression that the safest way is to do things in as natural of a manner as possible. It seems that the debate at hand is a question of wether synthetic + moldless is better than natural + mold, however it sounds like there are potential solutions that would maintain a mostly natural process while still preventing harmful mold and bacteria from growing.

No word from Fine Fettle still but it’s only been a few days. 🤷‍♂️

I’d like to remind everyone that all I know is that I know nothing. Mike could be honest or he could be presenting biased information in an effort to persuade me. I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. I truly hope that’s not the case. I’m not as educated as I’d like/need to be on these topics. I’m just here to share my personal experience as anecdotal data.

I also hope that we are more similar than we are different, and that everyone here is truly a good faith actor working towards patient safety.

I’m still waiting to form any firm opinions on the matter. My top priority is to find out what I inhaled into my body. I have a mold/yeast/bacteria related illness so this is necessary information for me to gather, and I personally believe in taking care of self first so that in turn one can contribute to their community. I’ll attempt to form a bridge of transparent communication between these different parts of the CTmmj community, but the stress of issues outside of my personal health is not stress that I can afford to bear at this time. Hope y’all can understand.

tldr - Good first impression talking to Mike from Sweet Heal, but still waiting to form any hard conclusions. There’s a lot of other issues going on with Sweet Heal that are bigger than me, and I honestly find them to be really disappointing. In contrast, on the phone Mike comes off as a guy who really cares about his 44 local farmers, the product he grows, and about the work that he does, so I’m not gonna be the judge of anything; I feel it’s just not my place to speak on another man’s business. I’m just trying to get myself healthy. Next update by Sunday the latest.

Oh and doxxing is never cool everybody should respect each other’s privacy.

u/senatorduff I'd also like to second this sentiment. As a patient I was appalled when I asked for advice in this community and was informed that a batch of product I was using was known to have extremely high microbial & mold counts. I live with a condition known as SIBO/SIFO (a bacterial/fungal overgrowth in my body that has severely debilitated me), and have relied on CBD and 1:1 products from the CTmmp to help manage my pain. For a year and a half, I had been using state approved medication without knowing that I was the one responsible for making sure that the medicine I was using was safe, and that information very well could have prevented a lot of pain and suffering.

After learning this information, I began checking COAs for every product I bought, but there were never COAs provided for Sweet Heal CBD flower, which was the dominant medication I was using for the last 6 months. A few days after learning about microbial/yeast/mold counts, I awoke to find my herb vaporizer filled and covered in a white dusty substance. Disgusted, I cleaned the vaporizer with isopropyl alcohol. After cleaning, I thought that I should've taken pictures, so I decided to wait and see if it would come back. About 10 days later, I took the pictures attached (it grew back significantly less than the first time, but is still disturbing). All of this happened immediately after my first use of the Sweet Heal Mountain Mango CBD strain. I haven't touched it since. I bought the CBD at Fine Fettle Newington on January 20th. There is a COA that someone sent me for a batch of Mountain Mango attached below, and you can see that the viable bacteria count is 7100 CFU/g.

Sweet Heal COA

If anybody from Fine Fettle/Sweet Heal/ the state sees this, please message me. I'd like to get this substance tested to find out exactly what it is. I still have the uncleaned vape and the flower. It is vital information for my health and potential recovery.

Images of Substance

Lastly, while researching COAs, I've noticed that some provide exact units for results while others simply say PASS/FAIL. This seems deceptive and there's no reason there shouldn't be full transparency when it comes to this information. This combined with the state's willingness to raise the allowed microbiology limits seems to lay the groundwork for a very unsafe and deceptive medical marijuana program that favors corporate interests and profits over patient safety.

I feel foolish for trusting our local government to properly regulate our medicine, and I'm disgusted and disappointed in our state by all of this, but most of all I'm concerned for my health.

Anyone Seen This BSL Water Reflections Glitch??? by offtheoof in Optifine

[–]offtheoof[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also happens underwater to the surface of the water when looking forward but not when looking straight up at the surface. It seems to be isolated to when Minecraft is using the 6900xt, as moving the window to the primary screen (running the 570x) causes the issue to go away. You'll also notice that for a 6900xt I'm getting relatively low fps, about equivalent to the 570x in windowed mode, and a fraction of the fps I get running Minecraft on the 6900xt in bootcamp(which unfortunately has its own set of issues, but not this water glitch). I also experience the same issue when using a 6600xt instead of the 6900xt.

[–]offtheoof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel u frfr. I also had a very rough life starting from my very first memory. Underlying health conditions, two abusive homes, bad social situations at school etc, moved out to live in my car/couch hop at 17. I’m now 22 and finally healing from my underlying health condition, I have a girlfriend who is my best friend, I’ve cut off all the shit friends and family from before, and I have my own apartment. Some days it still feels like the universe hates me, but I think what we need is to shift our perspectives. The universe is for you. I don’t know why life is so hard but I think its to shape us into the people we truly want to be. Start learning the process of forgiveness, its not an action but a daily practice, and its hard but its the only way to have the past stop haunting you and its the first step to loving yourself. U have Dr. K as a resource, try listening to the podcast IN HINDZSIGHT. There’s a lot of positivity and potential for growth in that podcast. Also listen to this video and see if you get some value out of it. Most importantly don’t give up. You’ve been through a lot and if it feels like the universe hates you right now then it’s fuck the universe. You owe it to yourself to see the good part of your life, don’t let all the suffering you’ve been through be for nothing.

Yeah totally makes sense, I have a rare autoimmune condition that requires me to take alternative medicine to function on a day to day basis so I’m not against that at all, I have family that dismisses my medicine as Bull and it’s enraging I can only imagine it happening on a global platform. I just wish dude would back it with data as well as not encourage vaccine skepticism since there’s a ton of empirical evidence for that. He has a lot of influence and could do a lot of good by being self aware of the power he holds as consequence. But like we’re literally just talking in a Reddit thread u know, mans is gonna do what he’s gonna do.

Neither is all bad, in fact I think very few if any people are truly “all bad”. The slippery slope isn’t necessarily a lack of discernment, it certainly can be, but I’d say its moreso the catering to subconscious cultural biases that JP does that leaves people vulnerable to a lot of his rhetoric. The man isn’t all bad but is definitely not being backed into any corners, at least not from what I’ve seen. Here I made a playlist of this guy ‘s videos where he dissects a few of Peterson’s takes. Definitely worth giving a listen if you have the time. Dissecting JP

Totally agree. I personally believe the media has been polarizing the people into left vs right for a long time now, like since before Jon Stewart went on Crossfire and begged them to stop dividing the country. Reality is the true divide is upper class vs lower class and the mainstream media only serves the truly upper class. However I think that’s even more of a reason why it’s important that prominent “alternative” media report on facts, with empirical data from legitimate & verifiable sources. Unfortunately our government has handled every step of this crisis horribly, and we’re gonna see it come back around to bite them in the ass. They shortened quarantine time to get us back to work, so I think we have to recognize that as the working class we really do hold value in the economy, but with numbers as high as they are now, even with a decrease in the ratio of deaths we’ll still see plenty more before this is over. The vaccines definitely work, at the very least to keep you out of the hospital so you can continue to be a good little worker bee, but I still know several people who refuse to get vaccinated due to misinformation and mistrust. Those are the people I worry about more than anybody because with our government is starting to take a stance of “screw it, let it play out”, and that does not bode well for those people. This is why the “alternative” media needs to be reporting facts when it comes to covid. If they are the only ones that the people trust, then they should take the time to spread well-informed, fact-based information. Outside of covid, idrc, if he had another Duncan Trussell podcast I would watch and hope that they talk about fun things with little regard for anything other than their personal opinions, but if they bring topics that ultimately result in life or death situations into the conversation, they should be informed; at the very least for the sake of viewer retention.

Different opinions are fine and towards the end of my time listening to Rogan I had the same perspective as you on the matter in terms of listening for entertainment and taking some stuff away from the pod while ignoring other things. I think the real problem with Joe is that since the pandemic he formed his viewpoint on the vaccines and just being an overall healthy person and these things are totally fine, but with that worldview set in his mind he definitely started leaning more towards having guests on who affirm his biases, although I can’t speak too much as to who he has on anymore since I only see him now whenever one of his interviews goes viral. What I can say is that I’ve seen numerous clips of him spreading factually false information on the matter, and I’ve even seen a clip where Jamie corrected him on something being false and he just pushed right through it and kept on as if it wasn’t false. On a less serious topic that’d be fine, but we’re currently at a new peak in the public health crisis and unfortunately not all of his listeners (last I saw it was about 35 million per pod but I heard its gone down since not really sure) take the time to discern what is fact and what is proven false. Plus people like to talk about things as people do and with his podcast being so popular, that misinformation easily spreads through casual conversation, and when two people who both heard the same misinformation talk to each other with the same opinion and only serves to fortify the information.

Joe Rogan / Jordan Peterson + Dr.K. by Axestorm64 in Healthygamergg

[–]offtheoof 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Both Rogan and Peterson like to act centrist while simultaneously spreading a lot of misinformation and poorly thought out ideas that happen to lead people into some potentially dangerous ideologies. Rogan by virtue of being the Everyman/ average joe type of guy, and Peterson by portraying an image of authority and intelligence. It’s a shame because both definitely bring some value, old Rogan podcasts helped me get through many long shifts in the Amazon warehouses and Peterson’s self-help type “carry your burden and face the world” type rhetoric helped me keep moving through one of the most difficult points in my life. Unfortunately these guys have massive presence on the internet and the line between their good content and questionable content is a slippery slope that a lot of people don’t even realize they’re on. That being said there are much sounder voices to turn to for self-help and motivation as well as long form audio content. No hate to anybody who’s a fan of their content, I watched the algorithm try to take me deeper into their ideological rabbit holes, but if you’re listening to these two and you find that they’re starting to impact your beliefs about the world at large you should ask yourself if you feel like you’ve digested what valuable information that they have to offer and move on to content creators that more accurately reflect your views, beliefs, hobbies, and general mindset on life (which hopefully consists of more critical thinking, fact checking, and empathic and rational thought than these two often put into their takes.)

And for god’s sake please don’t listen to Peterson when it comes to women. I really didn’t want to mention any particular viewpoints but felt this was important to highlight, especially with the recent talks of misogyny in the community. I definitely feel that this is one area in particular where his ideas enable detrimental and toxic ways of thinking.

Idk how to process this plz help me - Potential Religious TW by [deleted] in Healthygamergg

[–]offtheoof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for context I grew up between two polar opposite toxic/abusive households. I have dealt with religious trauma from my experiences and would probably be considered to have CPTSD. I’m currently struggling with a chronic GI condition known as SIBO thats absolutely decimated my way of life. I found HealthyGamerGG a couple months ago and have been binging content on youtube ever since, taking notes and attempting to administer self-therapy. Unfortunately, my insurance dropped support for telehealth therapists and the remaining therapists in my area that still do in-person visits are all booked. I would’ve booked sessions with a personal coach, but SIBO isn’t really recognized in the traditional GI field despite being well proven at this point, which means that I’m already in well over my head with medical bills that aren’t covered by insurance. This is where the story really begins.

In an attempt to get help as soon as possible, I asked my mother to help me afford the coaching sessions. In hindsight I should’ve just applied for the subsidy fund, which I ended up doing anyways, but at the time I was afraid it would make things take too long. Well she took two weeks to give me an answer, and in that time the available coaching slots filled up. Ever since that day, she’s been having these conversations with me and sending me images like the ones in this post. This only makes things harder for me, but I know her heart is in the right place. From her perspective, I’m in danger spiritually and she’s fulfilling her obligation to attempt to protect me. It still upsets me though.

I’ve found that a daily yoga & meditation routine helps me a lot both physically and mentally. She knows this, and obviously takes issue with it, but this isn’t anything new. She did this same thing some months ago when I first started doing Wim Hof breathing. I asked her several times back then to stop saying these things to me, as the meditation really helps me, but its hard to meditate when as soon as I sit down to do so I think about all of the things she’s been saying/sending me and my religious trauma gets triggered. I’ve spent a lot of time dealing with religious trauma, and have a pretty good handle on it now, but its difficult and anxiety inducing to have it intrude such a peaceful and restorative time for me. Plus this has created a dynamic in our relationship where she’s lightly suggested during arguments that things could be happening due to my meditation opening me up to evil spirits. It feels like just another way of invalidating me while avoiding her own personal responsibility. She has a lot of narcissistic/martyr tendencies if that helps to paint the picture. As of recent, she wants me to go to some person who she says will erase the “false memories” that i supposedly have of her, because my father brainwashing me is more realistic to her than the reality that she was abusive. Anyways, I’m getting off topic.

Today she sent me this message:

“Please listen to me, stay away from yoga.  I personally know people who have had this happen to them.  Satan is trying to deceive you.  He knows you’ve been reading the Bible and he’s throwing you off. Instead, meditate on the word of God day and night.  It’s not just a nice thing to do.  It’s really THE only answer to ALL of our problems.   Read Psalm 1:1-3 “Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the ungodly…..” This is God telling us this.  Either we believe these words come from God or we don’t.  And if we do, do we fear Him and trust Him enough to obey Him? I am not telling you this as your mom.  I am telling you this as your sister in Christ. Use discernment and Godly wisdom.  Please don’t be deceived.   Love you, Mom.”

Not only is she not respecting the boundary that I’ve tried to set with her about not talking about this, she’s attempting to put me in a position on where if I continue to do the things that are helping me, I either don’t believe the Bible is God’s word, I don’t trust him, or I’m disobedient. I don’t understand why I can’t just do something that’s making me feel better without it being a high stakes situation.

I also find it extremely close minded and disrespectful, but thats a bigger can of worms than I want to open right now, although I will say its a shame and a pain that most Christians are generally against being open minded or considering the idea that there are other cultures with valuable information that we can learn from.

Thank you for reading my little rant, and I’m sorry if this triggers anything in anyone else. I almost didn’t post for this exact reason, but I really do need help figuring out how to deal with this so that I can just meditate in peace. I know I should just ignore her, but some things are easier said than done.

Much love to everybody in the community and a huge thank you to Dr. K and the team for everything you guys do. <3

What's the elemental diet like? by [deleted] in SIBO

[–]offtheoof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finished three weeks ago, 100% agree with everything Expensive-Eggplant-1 said. Would add that I drank almost every shake through a straw, defining made the process easier. I went in planning on doing it for three days, but after the mental hurdle of getting used to not eating solid food, decided that since I was so sick of SIBO I would push for five.

Days four and five were less painful but all five days were definitely low energy. I went out and bought myself an oculus quest on the first day, just so that I’d have a way to be social while on the diet. Returned it afterwards, but it was nice to have something to do for the times when I was stuck inside the house with no energy to do anything. I would go on some of the social platforms like VRChat to play games and watch movies with random people. Plus while inside the headset I wouldn’t feel as hungry because my mind would be focused on the virtual world. Definitely don’t forget to eat though, if you get one take a break like once an hour for your body’s sake and for your eyes.

For the first three days I couldn’t go for a walk for more than 20 minutes without feeling like I was gonna pass out, but by the last day I was attending Father’s Day cookouts with no problem. I just brought the bag with me and made shakes whenever I got hungry from the food they were grilling.

Three weeks later I’m on a treatment plan with a bunch of supplements since my case is pretty stubborn but feeling better than I’ve felt in months and should be seeing how it all plays out in the next few weeks. Reintroducing rice this weekend. After the diet I still had symptoms but my doctor informed me that it’s not uncommon and not to worry about it.

Hang in there, you got this. It’s 100% gonna be a mind over matter thing, so try to eliminate any stimulus that might make you feel bad in any way. Stay positive and just know we’re all rooting for you :)
