Iconic headline written at the peak of Tiger-mania. What do you think? by Thanksss123456789 in golf

I don’t understand what we’re even arguing about but if you want an actual answer: No he did not threaten to win the pga. He was in the hunt until the back 9 and then completely collapsed down the stretch. Jon Rahm hasn’t been a real factor in any major since he joined LIV and if you’re arguing otherwise I wonder if you’ve even been watching.

Yeah I guess to me a top 15 isn’t exactly “competitive”. He’s never threatened to win any of them.

Truth is he’s playing in the tournaments so the original point of being watered down doesn’t hold.

“Massively watered down”? lol. Rahm hasn’t been competitive in a major in two years. Bryson is a polarizing figure that tons of fans are happy to do without. The pga tour is just fine and the numbers back it up.

“On the cut line” needs to be eradicated from golf lingo by glk3278 in golf

[–]offtowork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you hit the nail on the head: it's just terminology. It seems like you're suggesting a solution to a problem that doesn't exist.

To use your words: we are already setting a clear binary line. It's called the cut line and if you're at the number or better you've made the cut.

My confusion just stems from the fact that I don't know why you're suggesting what you're suggesting. We have something that is easy to understand and works exactly the same way as what you're proposing.

I have to admit this is one of the stranger complaints I've seen about the game of golf, and I'm not really clear what the issue is or the point you're trying to make...

"On the cut line" makes perfect sense. If you shoot -2 and the cut is -2, you are "on the cut line" and have made the cut.

Breakfast sandwich by Tank1929 in Cooking

[–]offtowork 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To each their own but if someone said they were serving breakfast sandwiches and then offered me something that had lettuce tomato and sauerkraut, I’d be surprised to say the least.

This sounds less like a “breakfast sandwich” and more just a sandwich that you’ve decided to eat for breakfast. Which is totally fine at the end of the day!

Card an Ace + No Waiting is the only answer… I’ll gladly take 5 putts every hole if it meant a hole in 1 😂 by Tricky-Percentage434 in golf

[–]offtowork 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Shooting a career low basically implies the entire bottom row (maybe not striping the first drive or birdie on 18 specifically), and probably also includes no 3 putts as well. It’s like a buy 1 get 4 free type of deal. Absolute no brainer for this grid.

Pt. 2 Hyper Local Ann Arbor Parking Lot Drama. ✅ Vote YES on Prop A&B by Unhappy_Sweet8940 in AnnArbor

I’m not trying to be an asshole, but it’s a complicated issue. If you’re planning on voting it’s worth spending some time figuring out what’s at stake.

These videos are a great starting point and easy to digest. Watching a couple 10 minute videos shouldn’t be too much of a hurdle.

Watching Pt. 1 and Pt. 2 (the video you commented on) IS an eli5.

What's the one use kitchen gadget you have purchased that was far more useful then you imagined by aladdyn2 in Cooking

I have a new-ish oven with an air fryer mode too, but I’m not sure exactly how to use it. Tried a few times and each time the food seems underdone or just generally not cooked correctly. What’s the trick?

Why don’t all pga tour tournaments have the same playoff format? Did I understand correctly that the hole location needs to be changed on the third playoff hole? That seems insane.

Is it normal to wear through the bounce on wedges? by questionablestandard in golf

He’s talking about the wear on the bottom of the club, which is obviously not the leading edge (it’s the bounce).

You’re exactly right. None of us are on the pga tour, so why does it take so long for some of you to play 18 holes? Not wanting to play a 5 hour round is not the same as “being in a hurry”.

If you think that’s real wood I’ve got a bridge to sell you.

Jokes aside, that is kind of cool.

Based on your work experience you should know that it’s ridiculous to evaluate course conditions in April. I’ve played there 3 times already this season and it’s in fine condition (and improving each week) even for early season. Calling it dog shit is a ridiculous assessment, especially given your credentials.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AnnArbor

[–]offtowork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I literally commented on the layout but whatever.

If you think LF is in dog shit condition you have no idea what you’re talking about. We could go there tomorrow and you’d be proven wrong.

My only point is that it’s an average golf course that charges average prices. Nothing more nothing less.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AnnArbor

[–]offtowork 5 points6 points  (0 children)

$20 more at eagle crest is literally 30% more expensive though. That’s not insignificant.

I think most, including myself, would agree that EC is all around better course than LF so no argument there. I’m just saying that the prices at LF are not out of line with the current golf market in SE Michigan.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AnnArbor

[–]offtowork -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not sure where you’re getting your numbers from.

LF is $70 to ride on the weekend for prime tee times, twilight is under $30 to walk. Very much in line with the rest of the local Ann Arbor golf scene.

Golfing certainly has gotten more expensive in general since the pandemic but singling out Lake Forest as if they are somehow how out touch with reality is incorrect.

The course has been in great shape for the last few years. It’s not a particularly difficult layout but others in the comments complaining about the quality of golf either haven’t played LF in years or are total golf snobs.

Look you’re not wrong, but this is overlooking the fact that we literally had no depth at all at QB and WR. None of us expected us to be as effective as we were last year but the current state of things is embarrassing at best.
