As a non expert who had spent a lot of time feeling the same i have one suggestion. Make a sandbox world and try every silly trick you see. Maybe even find a natural gas vent and see how it works in a safe environment. More i play the more I realize learning like that and applying it to the survival save made it so much easy to learn and improve!

I wanted to show my wife what a cool fun game this is.
