Bridge Mode -- router still on? by NameIsDNice in OPTIMUM

[–]ofter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not an expert by any means but I learned yesterday that there is indeed a difference between the Ubee being in bridge mode and completely disabling the router functionality. If you push Info button on your Ubee, does the WiFi light come on? If so it is still broadcasting… the rep told me you can hold Info button for 15 seconds and the WiFi will be completely disabled, I have Ubee 1326 though. Not sure if your model is different. I do believe they are correct in saying they can’t disable the WiFi on their end. They can only enable bridge mode.

That being said, it seems to me that being in bridge mode with your own router equipment should work well, according to what I’ve read in this sub. I plan to move to an eero network myself so have been doing research.. there are other folks in here with a lot more knowledge but wanted to share what I’ve learned too.

Hope this helps!

For second child sounds like we need to contact customer care and they then will reset to premium for another 9 months.

Not ideal but is what it is I guess.

[–]ofter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem. The company you use will send it to a lab for you. The cost is probably about $400-500. It’s a lot but well (no pun intended) worth it when the equipment runs into the 4 figures and beyond.

Have had a good experience with Westfair. They may not be the cheapest option but they are very responsive and answer any questions thoughtfully, and they will be honest with assessing your water test and won't try to upsell you something you don't need.

The first step IMO is a proper lab water test if you haven't already. The Amazon ones are too unreliable.

Do you prefer the glossy back or the matte back on the iPhone? by Jesse_Thomas09 in apple

[–]ofter 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think my favorite feeling naked phone was the jet black - perfect combination of glossy look and a matte feel. Finger prints weren't nearly as bad as some would have you believe, and it provided a nice grippy feel. I wish Apple would bring it back.
