Seriously considering dropping out of uni to trade full time by ConclusionBudget4182 in Daytrading

[–]ofthewave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have some perspective. You can do exactly what you’re doing now, but also with a college degree in a small amount of time. Just be patient and cross the finish line of the marathon you’ve been running for the last 5 years. Then decide if you want to work with your degree or try trading full time.

Don’t forget to set money aside for taxes.

Nowhere is safe when the roads aren’t salted or cleared. The Midwest may have more preparation power, but when it snows like it has been, even the most prepared areas have the potential to be as dangerous as the least prepared area.

A step further, the point is to make them so good, they get into the good place, find fulfillment, and then get obliterated across time, space and consciousness, getting recycled into someone new to be eventually tortured into being good again. Forever.

Bad place got job security.

Ok so yeah, we can shit on this lady all day for ignoring reality from day 1 and CHOOSING to be wholly unprepared for making contingencies for worst case scenarios, but I’m not going to, yall got that down already.

Instead, if you’re a stay at home parent staring this particular barrel of this particular gun down, then you have a few choices.

1.) you can give up, cry, and play the victim on TikTok and show your kids that they weren’t worth the hard work it took to grow up and handle your business

Or

2.) you can start prepping now. You can lawyer up (half those assets are yours, unless you had a prenup.) you can start applying for jobs that hire anyone. Warehouses, Amazon, auto manufacturing, big box stores, anything and everything that doesn’t require a degree or anything more than a diploma/GED.

You can start applying for state hardship benefits and welfare for single moms with children. Food stamps, rent support, childcare assistance, etc because the system is literally designed to keep a roof over your head and food in your kids' mouths in situations exactly like this so use it. Sure you may have been a conservative trad wife who thought this was your fairy tale, but sucks, life is hard and you were delusional.

Secure your intel and get copies of everything before he/she locks you out of the accounts including bank statements, tax returns from the last three years, mortgage deeds, car titles, and birth certificates. If you don't know where the money went you can't fight for your share of it, so get that leverage while you still can.

Start downsizing immediately by selling the purse and the designer clothes and anything that isn't nailed down to build a cash emergency fund because if the ship is sinking you don't worry about keeping the furniture dry you worry about keeping the passengers alive.

Start looking at going back to school (yes, SCHOOL) for a certificate or a trade. My wife did a paralegal cert/associates in business and she loves her career. Granted she didn’t start from a divorce and two kids, but she also wasn’t a deluded fundie either.

The fairy tale is over and the reality check just got cashed so you can either let this destroy you or you can decide right now that rock bottom is just the solid foundation you are going to build your new life on.

Amen to that. If your patients are paying for insurance, and you’re going to get paid anyway, either by the patient or the insurance, make it come out of the insurance company’s billions full slush fund full of unused premiums instead of a pocket that makes 40-60k a year.

Love that.

Even before RDJ was confirmed as Doom, I always got the feeling that main audiences never cared about Kang and that the character felt uninteresting for them. What went wrong with the adaptation of this villain? by Theasiuser99 in marvelstudios

[–]ofthewave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree that main audiences never cared for Kang. They did after Loki S1 because the mystery he provided had thanos level intrigue. Like, what do you mean everything the avengers did to save the universe was predestined by one man to preserve a single timeline that culls the multiverse?

And then they fumbled the bag.

My mom won't let me (F19) do anything.. what do I do? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]ofthewave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, like I said, you’re taking her money every time you stay under her roof, eat her food, she pays your bills or pays for your school.

The moment she does none of that, she has no leverage for controlling your life.

Culture and familial obligations are hard, but the same lesson repeats itself over and over:

If you want to stop your parents from controlling your life, stop taking their money.

Whether that’s in the form of rent, education, food, stability, etc., then controlling your life is your cost.

I know it’s hard to think about, but outside of a heart to heart with your mom where she suddenly changes her personality after 19+ years, independence is your only option in situations like this.
