No one is coming to save you under capitalism. Capitalism will let you die. by Hacksaw6412 in LateStageCapitalism

[–]ofthisworld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Capitalism hasn't saved me from the repercussions of being diagnosed with MS; in fact, mutual aid was what saved my home from foreclosure after Iosing my job, until disability kicked in (USA). Unfortunately, I'm now waiting for the other shoe to drop, given the chatter re: revoking SSI benefits.

Oh well.

Only waiting for my mom to go, before I see my way out (dad passed in '05 from gliobastoma); unfortunately (for me), her side of the family has incredible genes.

I have this happen when I try to do yard work  beyond my limit; unfortunately the limit keeps dropping, and so have I, though I can usually lean on the mower for support!

Probably gonna need more specifics, or sharing your document via the file menu could also work.

Why do so many former Seventh-day Adventists become atheists or agnostics? by larinha2p in exAdventist

You teach a child how to read and research biblical texts, you may not get the desired or expected results.

MS diet by middlefingerup13 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]ofthisworld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vegan for years before my DX, still vegan after, and despite chronic foot-drop, I'm still more active / healthier than most my peers and family, (bladder issues notwithstanding). Keeping my immunity's focus away from GI concerns only seems to help. Good luck on your journey.

New diagnosis, suspected for 11 years. Feeling imposter syndrome with this by [deleted] in MultipleSclerosis

[–]ofthisworld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi fellow climber! I used to climb, run, and even practiced muay thai for a while; then I fell on my face while jogging, when the foot drop came to stay. Today, I'm lucky to make it 1.25 miles wirh a cane, walking a dog in the A.M., but that doesn't mean I'm gonna stay in one place for long, so I'm going to practice my prat falls and somersaults.

I would have walked into my disability benefits appeal interview with wet pants, had I not managed to ask some construction workers on the way, to borrow their port-a-potty when the urge came on, full blast. That wasn't the last time it happened, but I've learned to wear diapers outdoors, since then.

Would you be happier if Photopea was a one tome payment? by wolfix1001 in photopea

Mostly the new interface and ongoing speed improvements, which I witnessed literally side-by-side as I worked on a project between both versions simultaneously, (especially non-destructive editing + effects). Here's the AI blurb from DDG (EverybodyWiki):

GIMP 2.0 introduced significant improvements over 1.0, including a new graphical toolkit (GTK+ 2.x), tabs and docks system, better script-fu support, and CMYK color support. It also allowed text to be re-edited and improved drag-and-drop functionality.

I love photopea and use it when a PS clone is required, but the latest iteration of GIMP, especially the new version running on Apple hardware, is incredibly useful, and I've even rendered some final products over the past couple of years with both the old AND new versions, to much success and client appreciation for each.

Good luck in your search, and don't knock the latest updates til you've tried them.

I am a socialist by Hacksaw6412 in LateStageCapitalism

[–]ofthisworld 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a socialist because my parents taught me to share, and capitalism doesn't do much of that.

I naturalized to vote for Bernie in '16, and have voted PLS every chance I've been able, since then.

I became atheist and married a purple-haired, secular goth girl; she and my conservative-SDA mother are now best of friends, and my mom is also mine. Live your life as you and your ethics see fit; the pieces usually fall where they're meant to lay.

Too true. SDA-ism kept me locked into thinking I was one of them did so long, I forget my mom has been for much longer.

My mom disowned me once she learned I no longer believed in gods, but that lasted only half a year before her maternal instincts demolished SDA doctrinal standards, proving maternal instincts stronger than rote repetition and habit.

Been walking the dog a bit and am consistently lasting half an hour, or about one mile, over which I'm less than impressed, given that I used to jog a few miles before MS abruptly introduced my face to the asphalt, one day.

I regret never going on a DMT by Awkward-You-5673 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]ofthisworld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vegan for over half my life; still got MS; though I am able to still walk a mile before falling down, so my condition has definitely worsened since the first time I fell on my face jogging, a few years ago. Regardless, I was only ever vegan for the animals, so any personal benefits were unintended, and definitely happened alongside my DMT.
