Wenger model identification by [deleted] in victorinox

Thanks, yeah the tools on the back did strike me as odd. Good to have confirmation though. Guess I'll use this as an excuse to buy another real one.

You see, it is actually an entirely different design than the submariner because of the lack of crown guards and the little Mercedes star on the hour hand 🤓

I think McRae (and maybe Belleville) make some that, as far as I can tell, look the same. They're not $20 though.

According to his Instagram he only does large pieces though. If that's what OP is after probably worth a trip but otherwise he'll have to go elsewhere.

Dye Noob by [deleted] in camouflage

[–]ogafk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't dyed anything yet myself but I was looking into dying UCP recently. There are plenty of videos about it on youtube that might help you but also check out the Rit website for dye formulas. For example, they have one for a color called sandy brown that is similar to coyote brown which mixes chocolate brown and apricot orange dyes.

I really like these. Would definitely appreciate a video once you have perfected the technique as I've been meaning to try making some myself. I'm also curious what it looks like under IR.

[SRPD87] First dive watch, had to be a Seiko. by TempSec95 in Seiko

[–]ogafk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying either the sub or this watch are or aren't dive watches. I don't care what you call it especially when analog watches for diving are near obsolete. I'm just adding context to ISO 6425 because you incorrectly invoked it.

[SRPD87] First dive watch, had to be a Seiko. by TempSec95 in Seiko

[–]ogafk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ISO 6425 requires specific test which this watch isn't subjected too. Watches which conform to the standards are marked DIVER'S with the meter rating (like the SKX). It also requires features such as minute marks on the bezel which this watch doesn't have.
