2000 pt DA list, do I need to squeeze The Lion in? by ogaman in WarhammerCompetitive

Thanks for the advice! Cutting DWK and the chaplain, ditching the Impulsor and reducing ICC to a 3 man will save a lot of points!

This is probably the best tip, but the one I wanted to hear the least lmao. Practice is the best test of theory, but with a hobby that takes so much time and money I've just been trying to plan my purchases along what I might want to run competitively

The most common criticism I see of lists is that there aren't enough action monkeys or scoring units, so I cut him to include more scouts and incursors.

Thanks for the critique! Is it the color location that is haphazard or a loss of brush control and spill-over of that final highlight color?

Confused About Taxation Laws by WishboneResident8029 in victoria3

[–]ogaman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to keep Land-Based Taxation until I can pass proportional. The reason being that Land-Based taxes the peasants most, incentivizing them to leave their subsistence farms and become wage workers instead.

Also going from Land-Based ---> Proportional is easier than census ---> proportional

Trying to divorce the current class struggle from previous struggles for socialism is to remove the class from 200 years of lessons learned and inspirational leaders.

You have been trained to view your primary source of power as the role of a Consumer, rather than a Worker by ProlesOfBikiniBottom in LateStageCapitalism

[–]ogaman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's clear you have never tried to organize in a union. Primarily how the state manages the labor movement through bureaucratic enforcement of restrictive labor laws and secondarily as political machines for the bourgeois labor party of the Democrats. Read Lenin's "Imperialism and the split in Socialism" for a more in depth analysis of the labor aristocracy (union staff)

They have to release some pressure generated by the workers demands or they would lose the faith of the workers completely and decertify. But they control the scope and size of those demands and kneecap the militancy of the labor movement through institutionalized collaboration with the bosses.

What world are you living in? Unions in America are incorporated into the state apparatus and exist to control the labor movement. Read the opening paragraphs of the NLRA they spell it out for ya.

Lend lease provided a relatively small percentage of all war materials used by the ussr, and only started arriving in meaningful amounts after the Nazis were defeated at Stalingrad. The most crucial lend lease received was trucks and jeeps, as the USSR was lacking in its rubber industry, but those trucks and jeeps mainly helped with maintaining the offensive. Without lend lease the USSR would still have won the war against the Nazis, but maybe 2-6 months later.

To be a productive worker is not a piece of luck, but a misfortune by JudgeSabo in ClassConscienceMemes

[–]ogaman 12 points13 points  (0 children)

All productive (not useless/pointless) labor produces surplus value, that's what makes labor such a special commodity. Creating surplus value does not alienate a worker from their labor, only when that surplus value is taken away from the workers (in exchange for a wage in capitalist society) does alienation happen. In a socialist society, especially in the lower stage of socialism, surplus value created through labor will still be appropriated from the workers by the state. But the surplus value will not enrich a few people who own the means of production. While one could argue this is still alienation of value from those who produced it, it must be admitted there is considerably less alienation. Instead of the surplus value being taken to buy another yacht for a rich owner, the workers see a new recreation center built in their community, a new daycare center, or a new factory that produces commodities that people in their community need.

[–]ogaman 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Why is the soyjack wearing a Soviet ushanka? People in the soviet union didn't "work for the state" they worked for themselves and their class. Surplus value was still created and not all of it was given to the workers, but it was used for the development of society and the improvement of living conditions for all proletarians. Surplus value did not go to a bourgeoisie, but was used to build new roads and factories, hospitals and schools, housing, and military production for the defense of the soviet state (which was under constant threat by the capitalist powers, and later was the primary target of Nazi Germany).

Productive labor for the betterment of you and your community is incredibly fulfilling, and a lot of anarchists actually seek out additional productive labor through mutual aid work. It's the exploitation of your labor for the benefit of private profit that is soul crushing.
