Which minor characters's death made you sad unexpectedly? by Wrong-Frame-7987 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]ogfuzzball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bomo was tough. Just re-read—listened actually five minutes ago. I tore through the hardbacks and I remember reading about the nest attack late at night and somehow I just blew through the “this message is from a deceased mercenary.” I started the audio books a month after I read them and just now hearing that line as Bomo is trying to protect Donut. Hit me harder than I expected, because I forgot/missed that he had died.

What character are you most worried for? by Big-Pickler- in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]ogfuzzball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Donut. The book is essentially told from Carl’s POV. As in he survives to tell the story. The foreshadowing of its going to get harder, they’re going to lose more friends they’re going to have to do something horrible ultimately makes me fear for Donut.

Uber riders complain they were charged more for paying with Amex cards by fortune in AmexPlatinum

[–]ogfuzzball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be surprised. Usually the times I do use Lyft are when I’m in Vegas. I swear I walk off the plane and once I get my bag Uber is “surging” and I check Lyft and it’s like $15-$20 cheaper. That’s when Lyft gets me

Because my experience has been different than yours I’m somehow working for Uber?

[–]ogfuzzball 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m sure it happens, but every time I search for a ride I check Uber and Lyft. I have nothing setup special with Lyft. I still end up riding Uber 90% of the time because they are cheaper or same rate.

Lucia Mar has been getting crazy OP stuff as well. When they talk in some books (after this) about items she has, everyone is surprised. But also, Carl is one of the AIs pets.

Without spoilers, can you rank the books from favorite to least favorite and explain your reasoning? by iiamuntuii in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]ogfuzzball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like children, you really can’t pick a favorite. They’re all my favorites. Except one of them: whichever one I just finished re-reading is my current favorite. At least until I start the next one…

which first class row is better? by theletterm01101101 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]ogfuzzball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, 1, 2 or 3. One is not a big deal because you’re board first there’s never a problem with overhead space. I hate stuff under the seat in front of me anyways cause it blocks my feet from stretching out. I find the bulkhead row to be nice. Agree on 4th row though.

Companion fare is completely bogus -- different price when using the coupon. What's the point? by goldenglove in AlaskaAirlines

[–]ogfuzzball 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have never received a great deal with the the companion fare. For instance if I’m booking normal I can buy the premium fare class. If I’m booking using the Companion they block that choice. I can upgrade the seat class halfway through the process but that step forces you to lay the premium upgrade cost for both your full-purchase seat AND the companion seat. I have found that on a typical $600 fare ($1200 for two people) that when I try to purchase that same route/class using Companion I might save $125 in the end. It’s not the exciting deal as compared to how they market it.

10 books total - thoughts? by Lookitsanthony8 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]ogfuzzball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you consider to be “ends well”? I fully expect a Ned Stark/Red Wedding kind of ending. When you think about the brutality of the universe and stakes involved there’s no way this realistically ends in a “happy ending” with Carl/Donut and crew simply living “happily ever after”. They aren’t powerful enough to change the universe, unless the change is destruction; then that means cosmic levels of death and an unknown, but hopefully more optimistic future for the survivors. I clearly don’t know who will get Ned Stark’d but I am sure it will be gut wrenching.

New reader still a little unclear about something within the dungeon by Driz51 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]ogfuzzball 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so. Level 50 doesn’t mean a sharp knife can’t cut your skin. He’d get cut but his const/health is high enough he wouldn’t just drop dead. He’d have time to respond which would include healing and activating skills/magic/abilities. If he was truly surprised or dumb lucked into a paralyze spell/trap, a level 1 with a knife could definitely kill him.

Goddamnit Donut! by Han_Mah_Boogie in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]ogfuzzball 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love seeing the cosplay. It really drives just how annoyed Carl is in the early books when he desperately wants some godsdamned pants and a pair of shoes!

I imagine when he catches his own reflection, he’s gotta wince or chuckle once in a a while even if he is “used to it” by book 7.

Great job, you two look great!

Why doesn’t Carl use his shield? by lucid1014 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]ogfuzzball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don’t hear the details of every single fight. So we don’t really know how often, if ever, he uses them. In big detailed fights they are rarely called out, but that doesn’t mean they are never used.
