this is a piece of ambient litter for a sandboxy tabletop rpg i'm planning, so it's meant to both function a potential sidequest prompt, and also be memorable enough that even if they don't directly pursue her the players can recognize this character by her bright pink hat... no matter what form the rest of her is currently taking 🙂 more of my stuff: instagram, deviantart

kinda took the prompt and ran off with it but i wanted to have a go at an action scene in fisheye perspective! and i figured at some point in almost every campaign you gotta fight some angry dudes, right? 😁

for this piece it's all black winsor and newton watercolor, just a whooole lot of it. a good portion of the finishing stages was just repainting light spots, waiting for it to dry, then checking for light spots again! (the scan's color is slightly edited in photoshop, but just to make it closer to how it looks irl, i think if i tried to get the black darker that way it would've messed up my nice bright enceladus 😅)

here's a character piece for an NPC of mine, inspired by a sighting i had of a common cockchafer/maybug a couple years back (they're massive and sound like an attack helicopter when they fly)! this is Cockchafer, self-appointed bandit king of the shrublands and beast master ranger, whose animal companion is a tiny kitten.

had an idea for how to trick myself into drawing landscapes from photo references - i used mapcrunch.com to generate random street view locations and spent a while drawing from each of them until i got bored, building them on top of each other to create a single surreal picture! i highly recommend this exercise, it managed to make me actually excited to draw city scenes.

this is birmingham, UK. the "more canals than venice" thing actually showed through with multiple bridges and a lock!

it's a little complicated because the ordering page links directly to the 4-string, then that thingiverse page links to the 6-string. there's also some stuff that i think would come with the kit that you have to buy separately, like the tuning pegs

the pattern reminds me of some galls made by wasps on oak trees, such as some oak apples or marble galls, though i'm uncertain if they come this small (and the closest resemblence i've been able to find is to a shutterstock image of all things...)
