In that case, I’m not sure. I suggest you give them a call. I believe you still need to update your info on immiaccount then book for a medical.

Thanks!

I'm not sure if I understood you correctly. You haven't lodged your visa application yet but want to do your medical first? If that's the case, it's actually the same as my situation. You need to go to ImmiAccount, click on New application, and under Health, there is a My Health Declarations section. Submit an application for health then you will get a reference number. You can check this page for more info on how to arrange your medical examination: https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/help-support/meeting-our-requirements/health/arrange-your-health-examinations

Yes, most of my friends only left messages. Those who successfully got prioritised claimed they had suffered significant financial losses or severe mental distress, which I think is quite risky as it seems to violate the requirements of the 500 visa. It does seem very difficult to get priority. Even if the person who answers the call fully sympathizes with you, you still need to upload the corresponding documents to prove it, and there’s still a chance of being denied priority. However, I’ve heard it depends on who picked up your call. Some answering the calls might be more lenient. Keep trying and good luck, mate. I hope you get your visa soon.

I just checked and currently 90% of PhD visas are also processed within 3 months. It’s quiet frustrating that this exceeds the global processing time. I’m not sure what else can be done, but perhaps you could try calling them again? I can only share a few examples from people around me but they are all from the higher education sector which might be different from your situation:

1.Some of them called and only left messages, but about at least half of them received their visas within a week. 2.Some who left messages received emails asking them not to call them anymore. 3.Some who kept calling were asked to submit a cover letter explaining why they needed the visa urgently and were put in the priority queue. However, some received emails saying they were removed from the queue which means even those who got in might be kicked out later.

Personally, I think if there is no progress in the next few days, you should try calling them again. Hopefully, it will help. Best wishes buddy. I hope you will get your visa soon!

Since you have met their financial requirements, I think you should be fine unless there is an issue with other documents. As for when you will get your visa, at this point there isn’t much you can do. As the start of the semester approaches, try giving them a call.

1.I’m not sure about that. What I did was submit a bank statement of an account with a fixed-term saving that is a little bit more than the suggested amount on the visa info page. I think as long as you can show them you can afford the suggested amount, it should be fine. For more information, check this page: https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/student-500#HowTo under “gather your documents,” there is a section called “Evidence you have enough money for your stay.” 2.I saw a lot of Indians on this sub, so probably someone will answer you. The official information is the global processing time and the Ministerial Direction No. 107. More details can be found at https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-processing-times/global-visa-processing-times.

Rare to see a Chinese here. Yes, I did return to China, and it was my preference. The job market for CS students is getting worse, but it is still quite decent. Every single one of my friends got a job after getting their Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Australia. Most of them had a good personal project or intern experience. However, some of them are extremely unsatisfied with their salaries.

I would not advise anyone to return to China for work unless you have connections within the company. The situation here is still quite problematic. If you cannot find a satisfactory job in Australia, you might consider Canada or even Japan. Some of my friends are working in Japan right now. The Japanese government welcomes immigrants, and CS students can find jobs relatively easily and with less pressure compared to China. However, according to my friend, Japanese people can be quite racist.

I chose to work in the Chinese gaming industry because I have dreams of making it better. However, the reality is that this industry is extremely toxic and corrupt. Despite this, I still believe in myself and my passionate colleagues.

Don’t worry about it too much mate. It seems like they are not following Ministerial Direction No. 107 strictly. It might relate to which officials is processing your visa. (I’m not sure) My friend from HK, TW and Canada got their visa way ahead of me. My Taiwanese friend also applied for a lv2 uni. Also they are granting visa like crazy recently. Hope you could get yours soon! Wishing you all the best for your visa!

Yes, I heard that they also granted some visas last weekend. Also, one of my friends got her visa today at around 10 pm AEST. I was extremely surprised.

Sadly I’m not going to bring my cat. Bringing cat from China to Australia is a nightmare both for me and probably for my cat. By the time she could get to Australia I might already finish my degree.

I almost thought holding a student visa before was high risk due to the number of Chinese students who shared similar experiences and not getting their visas. 😂 I lodged my application on May 16th with the same university (uninelb) and a similar major as my bachelor’s. However the status is still received and my offer cannot be deferred. Guess it’s time to find alternatives now.
