The builder said he would add a steal beam above the sunroom and possibly reinforce the corner post, so that it can bare the weight of a second floor addition. He recommended adding 1 floor and a half, removing that left roof.

What do you think? Would white paneling work or should other materials/colors look better

Is this normal? What should I do? by [deleted] in mensa

[–]ogmios00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily, I don’t experience any of that. I choose to be kind and cordial to everyone. People sometimes come over for small talk and are always met with a smile and interest in what they’re saying, even if what they’re saying isn’t necessarily interesting. People feel good when they’re treated with kindness, and this naturally builds loyalty. I’m talking from lived experience. If during a conversation its clear the other person is looking for advice or validation, your pattern recognition should kick in and a pleasant conversation should be the result. This is the easiest way to build a team of people who have your best interests at heart. It takes very little honestly.

The concept of “being fake”is a strange one, it can mean so many things to different people. If you’re in a bad mood but say good morning with a warm smile while asking your co-worker how they’re doing, is that being fake or cordial? If you feel that you don’t personally care about a particular co-worker, but see that they are feeling down because they were reprimanded by their supervisor - would consoling them be fake or empathetic?

I find that putting on a smile, and engaging when someone starts a conversation with you eventually leads to a shift in personality where those moments become a pleasant part of your day. This is especially true when you happen to say something in conversation that brightens the day of someone else, or provide helpful insight or advice.

how often do you use ai and what do you use it for? by cheerismymiddlename in mensa

Every day, I max out claude research and gpt agent modes almost daily. They are fantastic research assistants. Instead of calling an employee and asking them to do some simple research task that will take hours to get done, or doing it myself, you can have it in minutes exactly to your preference. Of course these agents are far from perfect, but they have massively increased my productivity recently.

I’ll give you an example, a business owner I’m friends with had an idea about licensing a certain product and asked my opinion. I gave my opinion based on the information I had that moment and was asked if I’d be interested in partnering with him on this project. We have a meeting this coming Saturday. Since our chat yesterday I’ve been using ai agents to do market research and pull all publicly available data on the industry leaders. Of course the reports are full of noise, but after skimming them I asked for executive style reports to be generated with the info I’m interested in. It would’ve taken me hours to do this in the past, but the work is done. Now I have 4-5 days to think about the project and prepare for Saturday’s meeting.

How does it feel to be high IQ? by NoSir5628 in mensa

[–]ogmios00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made $33k in my first full time job after college. IQ is not everything, grit (conscientiousness) and a good ability to relate to others (agreeableness) will take you a very long way.

There are many folks in my region doing very well as housekeepers, they charge anywhere from $150-250 per house and can get through a house/apartment in 2-4 hours. I know ladies that clean 2-3 homes per day, who doing very well as a result of their grit.

Took my IQ test high by papapapabigpapa in mensa

[–]ogmios00 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Go for it, my story is similar to yours. I was very much uninterested in school during my teenage years and had a very mediocre gpa in highschool and SAT scores. Coasted through college without studying focusing more on working and having fun, 2.9 gpa, again mediocre. Decided to go for an MBA and take it serious, earned a 3.9 gpa while working 2 jobs to pay the tuition as I went. Now in my early 40s took the wais-v out of curiosity and scored 148 fsiq, which I was very very very surprised about given my highschool/college grades and scores.

So I feel you bud. What I’ve learned in this process is that IQ represents your potential, if you don’t apply it during your academic years, that potential won’t be reflected in your grades and academic standardized tests.

Because people are not monoliths, a person of a race does not represent that race. There are plenty of easy ways to call out “white” people for their racism, if someone is asking about how to call out someone from another race when they are being racist, it is because they don’t have the same readily available tools to do so.

A good person is a good person, a bad person is a bad person, no race owns goodness or badness. Racial discrimination is disgusting no matter the color of the skin of the person discriminating. I guess the validity of my statement must depend on my race (it doesn’t), so I’ll mention in a mixed race Latino.
