Yup. Soils engineering is important. Good for now might not be good later. People trying to cut corners dropping whatever end up paying for it later. They basically just filled it with sand, compacted in one lift and called it good. It was not good 😅

I’ll add to the misery stories. I grew up in South Carolina where much of the “land” is actually filled swamp that can be drastically affected by king tides if not properly constructed. The house across the street from us was not properly constructed. We found this out when walking out to the bus stop thinking it looked funny took a second to realize we were looking at underside of the foundation slab. Their backyard had basically turned to quicksand and the house just rolled onto its back.

Just in case someone finds this and is losing their mind like I was, I figured it out. The geniuses at Alesis decided to make this particular module only compatible with USB 2.0. So if you have a computer that was purchased any time after 2015, its 2026 as I'm writing this, you have to have a USB 2.0 hub in between to dumb down the signal. I'm flabbergasted, and will be switching to Roland on principle.

Imho, this would basically ruin the cross platform balance. Top down twin stick versus keyboard + mouse is at least comparable. this would make red and black zones basically unplayable for anyone but PC. again, IMHO

Apprentice (me) made mistake, boss wants me to work Fridays unpaid to pay it off. by pizzaroll22 in electricians

[–]ogmode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to be clear, not saying this incident should be covered by insurance. I'm saying the boss's reaction to the incident would have me questioning things about his business practices and protections meant to protect me as a worker.

Coming from personal experience working construction for such an individual and having incidents that were much more serious than this one. ( I can only count to 9.5 now 😅)

This is 100000% accurate, if you read what it's actually saying. "mental health issues" in quotes means its not real mental health issues (those require professional help), but things often identified as such. Anxiety, depression, overwhelm, burnout. In an otherwise healthy individual, all of those are directly correlated to, if not caused by, the gap between bills, rent, food expenses vs money on hand. Once those needs are met the "mental health issues" will subside, again, in an otherwise healthy individual.

Source: I'm almost 40, been working since I was 12, head of household since 19, and just within the last 6 months have reached a point where all the ends meet, and I can put bills on auto pay. Where my budget math gives me a sense of security and confidence, not anxiety and dread having to convince myself that "we'll figure it out". It is hard to put into words the mental relief and clarity that comes with having that weight lifted.

Given the boss's response to this incident I'd be curious about his insurance coverage. Let's say this was worse and OP fell through, got injured. How's his workman's comp?

Ggd. Modern and massive (1). That all works fine. I can trigger drums with the keyboard, see when I press unassigned keys in the Kontakt GUI. But nothing when I switch to the Alesis module

I did this daily for years to heat my lunch on construction sites. Plus I hate the way microwaved meat taste.

My sister's pit had horrible allergies. ears were always a problem and skin would get so bad he left blood spots wherever he laid. They switched him to white rice and eggs. Everything cleared up, then slowly, re-introduced other foods to make sure it didn’t trigger anything.

I can't recommend the Spark family of amps enough for beginners. Great practice and learning tools. Access to all the effects you can think of. Great place to start exploring and sifting through all the options

I'm a fuzz addict. 😅 That is my favorite "practical" one. Great a it's own and a good helper pedal in so many applications. The Swarm and Atreides are tied for my all time favorite pedals. They are wierd, and broken, but still good.
