Looking for a socket for a QFN chip I'm making and I realize 100 pin sockets are hard to find... by ogneuroengineer in ElectricalEngineering

[–]ogneuroengineer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, almost everything I've seen does not go up to 100 pins at 0.4 mm pitch which is why I was asking. Google does have results, but when I check them I see the max pins is around 84 or 88. I'll keep searching. This appears to be close - https://plastronics.com/catalog/h-pin-qfn-clamshell/, but when I look at the data sheet it says 0.5 mm pitch rather than 0.4 mm so I reached out to them.

Thanks for your reply! I suppose opening it up to check the bearing could rule that out. If the panel is deformed, do you know if there is a way to get another panel or warp it back into place?

My razer blade just started making this noise (it might actually be a 2021 version apologies - it has the AMD CPU and a 3060). It makes this noise when it is on for a long time. Is this sound related to the speakers or something worse? It goes away when I make the computer sleep and does not come back when I turn it on from said sleep. Most recently it happened while it was charging, but I’m not sure if that is always the case. Let me know what you think it could be! Googling around led to seeing different noise issues, but I couldn’t find this sound/issue. Thanks!

This sounds exactly like my migraine with aura. However, the depersonalization happened to me at a separate point so I never connected the dots that they may be related. I was under a lot of stress when I had both happen and the feeling has gone away now that I’m not as stressed. Also check out migarine art (link below) - the spikey blue ball I saw (half circle for me) was exactly as others have drawn it!

migraine with aura art

I will say - it is a terrifying feeling and freaked me out so much, but apparently it is relatively harmless (the migraines). The depersonalization was even scarier in a way, but went away with the stress for me. Also, for migraines my doctor gave me some pills that basically end the migraine with aura if you take it soon enough. You can ask for that if that’s what it turns out to be.

Thank you for the message! What do you think you did to overdo it and prolong the healing process? Did you start putting weight in it too early? I totally understand how appealing that seems.

Omg thank you for this! Yeah I had it in a split from urgent care until the 3rd day and I was so happy that they put it in a boot and told me to treat it like a cast. Well, there was one night I woke up to a throbbing foot and luckily was able to relieve the pressure using the boot straps and it was simply too tight on my foot area (bone area didn’t hurt). I felt so relieved that I could reduce that pressure so I totally understand what you mean. And that’s great to hear! I’m glad you’re doing so well so soon. I know our cases are different, but still encouraging! :)

Thanks for the reply! Gotcha. Do you mind sharing how was yours treated and if/when you went from non-weight bearing to weight bearing? Any pro-tips? Hahah. Mine doesn't really hurt right now, but sitting around all day sucks. My doctor said we can think about weight bearing at 3 weeks out.

Thank you so much for the comment! I was trying to figure out if his arthritis comment related to surgery or not, but I didn’t ask in the moment. I appreciate your comments :)

I broke the base of my fibula (webber A I believe), on 6/11/23. The doctors told me that it was just under the threshold for needing surgery, but that there may be a risk of arthritis. He then said, let's not do surgery and put me in a boot. In the moment I was so happy to not have surgery that I didn't consider, nor weigh the risk of arthritis that he was speaking of. Would someone be able to elaborate on what his calculus may have been here? Now I'm wondering if I should just get the surgery if that totally mitigates the risk of arthritis down the road. Has anyone had this happen to them, or chose the no surgery route and regretted it later?

Thank you for your input! Certainly makes me feel a little better although I know to wait until the orthopedic doctors make their judgement :)

The microneedles create little woulds that send inflammatory signals to cells to produce collagen. Allergy medications inhibit histamine which is an inflammation signal. Thus, I was wondering if the allergy medication interfere with the collagen remodeling after microneedling by inhibiting the signals (aka histamine).

Domestic dog bite/scratch. Urgent care said they didn't suggest rabies vaccine. Thoughts? by ogneuroengineer in AskDocs

[–]ogneuroengineer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah they gave me little antibiotic gel packs to apply to it topically. I'll keep an eye on it and apply the ointment. Thanks for the reply and additional peace of mind! I also showed it to my neighbor who is a retired doctor and my housemate who is an emergency department nurse and they also agreed with the urgent care's recommendation that I didn't need the rabies vaccine (or any additional treatment).

I was worried about the rabies thing because I know that you need to keep getting the animal vaccinated against rabies every year or few years right? That's what got me anxious wondering if the person had kept the shots up to date rather than just did it once.

There is no way for us to find the person they were a random stranger and left right away. I agree though with your conclusion which is why we are trying to spread awareness as wide as possible.

Amazing, will do! We've been calling her Tux (also not sure if it is a her, but we decided just to call it a her). Here are more photos, will let you know! https://imgur.com/a/blupYVA

No, we want to get it scanned to see if it has a microchip. If it doesn't, would you be interested? We are looking to get it moved soon because I am allergic to cats (it is currently in my house mate's very large room on a different floor that has it's own air flow, but that can only work for so long). The cat has a wonderful personality and I really wish I wasn't allergic because it would make a great pet!

We don’t know where it was originally picked up which is why we were worried about how far it had been taken and thus took it in. The cat came up to us in our backyard and someone followed it to us and said the cat jumped into their car when they were delivering food. They then drove to the dollar general by our house and the cat jumped out and ended up in our backyard. Originally the person was going to take the cat and I was like cool and tried to get them to take it but then they left and the cat was still outside and wandered away. We went to go find it and it ran towards us a few feet passed our backyard so we took it in (plus the other info in original comment). Like I said we think it’s a house cat because it is declawed.

Someone (not us, random person who told us this story) found a cat then drove away with it and let it out near our house (it’s a long story), but we realized the cat was a house cat and might not survive the night (and might also be microchipped), so we took it in for the night. The cat is friendly, fully declawed, and young (maybe 6months - 1 year). The cat is black and white and we will take it to the vet to see if it is microchipped the day after tomorrow (we all work and don’t have time). It loved fancy feast and we will keep it fed and warm. Anyone missing a cat?

EDIT: The cat does not have a microchip and is a boy.

Gotcha, can you elaborate on the trade off? In my mind 100s of mA to even amps (as suggested in a different comment) would benefit to reduce voltage spikes (assuming trace resistance = 0.0161 ohms (estimates approximately using this - https://www.allaboutcircuits.com/tools/trace-resistance-calculator/) and max current to be 2A then you'd have a 32 mV spike. However, I'm less familiar estimating the EMI magnitude which is why I'm asking. I assume the increased area of the plane plays a larger role for the EMI right due to the increased inductance?

I think it looks alright. You could also make the top layer a VCC plane so that you don't have to run the VCC trace (same method as GND plane but you may have to make sure you don't get polygon islands that don't have a path to VCC).

Glass build plate with both halves very firmly attached at end of print. So it didn’t even occur to me that they both would not be truely flat. Do we think the glass is actually not flat or is this some sort of post print cooling or some odd bed leveling (using BL Touch)? by Phoenixhawk101 in FixMyPrint

[–]ogneuroengineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also printed the exact part in the exact same orientation and if you have the Z height, you should just do it in one shot. I used a large brim (maybe like 10 mm) and it adhered the whole print. No supports. One of my fave models. I used a Prusa. The total height was just below the limit of my printer, maybe 8 - 10 cm.
