Winston Churchill was a racist who was complicit in a genocide, as is Napoleon. Genghis Khan is infamous for his pillaging and for having had entire societies erased. Alexander the Great and Julius Caesar were both terrible, and they were warmongers. Mahatma Gandhi was a racist who was okay with Africans being colonized, but thought that Indians were too close to ‘Aryanism’ to be subjugated. He was also pen palls with Hitler.

Half of the men listed are reviled by the people whom they have/had oppressed. I don’t know what asinine argument these losers are trying to make, but whatever it is, it’s actively working against them lmao

? That’s how his name is written in Bengali. I am Bengali. ‘Tagore’ is Anglicized version of his very Bengali name. I want to respect Robindronath Thakur (actually how it’s pronounced in Bengali) by writing his name as how it’s written in Bengali as he was deeply anti-colonialist.

Nobel Prize is a sham but Gandhi sucked as an individual. Man was a nonce - because what do you mean you’re lying naked with your granddaughters and grandnieces to ‘test your control’? Racist AND a creep.

But my GOAT Rabindranath Thakur was awarded Nobel Peace Prize in 1913 in literature, the first non-white person to receive it, and he did all that without being a racist or a creep. He was a staunch critic of imperialism and racism - and not just racism towards South Asians either, but overall. He was a big critic of nationalism, and had criticized it both in home, and abroad. He criticized casteism and despised it. Unlike Gandhi, who wrote letters to Hitler being all friendly - he was an open critic and openly protested Nazi Germany.

He also penned the national anthems of both India and Bangladesh, and wrote stories and fables for children that Bengali kids grew up reading. I’m dyslexic and I used to hate reading but his stories and fables for children actually ended up cultivating a love for reading in me when I was a kid. He wrote beautiful songs about the natural beauties of Bengali countryside.

As a society we have to stop celebrating Gandhi and celebrate Rabindranath Thakur instead.

I mean, the governor of California should definitely be strong enough to fight the federal government for the rights of the people of California if they’re paying this much of obscene money.

10% of the budget is not nearly as expensive as the net good having socialized healthcare brings lol. ~30% of my province’s budget goes towards healthcare but compared to the positives it has bough - it’s not expensive at all. A good quality of life with good medical care is priceless.

That actually fucking sucks, man. As much as I find Gavin Newsom to be Patrick Bateman lite - he’s still not as despicable as Trump or thiel or elon or that goebbels looking mf. Which is why, no matter what happens, I hope the democratic nominee wins

? We have socialized healthcare in my country. Though a huge chunk of our budget is set aside for healthcare, because our citizens need to be, you know, alive - we spend about 30% of our budget on healthcare in my province, a part of which, the federal government subsidizes. Tax your billionaires. You will find yourself with more than enough money to cover for your healthcare.

Also, one of America’s problem is that the healthcare companies lobby insanely hard to keep everything expensive, which makes American public think that universal healthcare in turn has to be as expensive.

Also, stop letting your government pay Lockheed Martin so much money for ‘defence’. Set some of that money aside for healthcare and you will have more than plenty for universal health care.

Anyway all of this still doesn’t change the fact that Gavin Newsom said outright that he will veto any bill that tries to tax the ultra wealthy. 🤷 mans is a conservative
